EVE Online freezes (locks up) my computer randomly. Unplayable

I've been eve-less for the better part of a month because every time I try to play, eve locks up my computer within a half hour, usually within minutes of turning it on. I've looked through the forums and have found a few other people with similar problems but it does not seem to be too widespread, and no one can tie the problem down to a single cause. Some freeze up when they activate a module, or if some random other software is running. My problem is the same, and I thought that it was for sure eve+something else. It is not.

Eve is the ONLY software I run that causes this problem. I can run it with 10 other third party apps, including other games, or I can run it all by itself with everything I can turn off on my computer turned off. Within minutes, it freezes my machine either way. I have tested it on all group settings of the graphics options, including turning off or adjusting one setting at a time to see if the problem was a client graphics issue. I even went as far as upgrading my graphics card to a newer model. Nothing from this seems to effect the crashing problem.

I have tested eve with sound, without sound, with sound with all of the sound toggles off, and with all but one of them on straight down the list of toggles to see if the problem was sound related. I have even disabled my sound card and I still get freezing. Sound is not the problem.

I have a Steam account with 206 other games, I have tried out about 40 or so of them and not had this issue. I have used graphic design software, office software, and even a couple benchmarks. Eve is the only program that does this.

Since this has only become a problem since the latest expansion (Kronos) I have to assume that some of the new code, or old broken code simply does not like a piece of hardware on my machine. Perhaps the processor or the chip set. I hope that the next expansions fixes the problem. I have been playing Eve for longer than 8 years with very little problem. I would hate to have to close my accounts simply because the game refuses to function on my machine.

As I have said I have only seen a few people post with a problem similar to this. I'd like to ask anyone who reads this, if they are having this problem as well, say so. Problems tend to be fixed when more people have them.
