Random Kindness in eve?!

hey everyone,

before i started playing eve, i have been reading a lot about eve.
in general, eve is considerd one of the most harsh games out there.

i'm wondering if we can get a threadnaught going on, disproving eve as a very mean and harsh game.
Because even after encountering scammer number 9213 or awoxer number 4527, there are random acts of kindness in eve.

so please, post here your experience with random encounters of kindess, which can reach from an pirate honoring a ransom, to someone helping you out form day 1.

lets hope people read this, and that it can help people find their way in eve, and its harsh, but sometimes very pleasant community.

I was about 200M from plex when a mate from the swe-chat sent me 350M, I would have bought game time if I would get my money earlier this week but he saved me the trouble of not spending a week without eve.

let me tell one of my encounters.

i was planning on going to nullsec, but really really low on isk, so i couldnt buy the dominix i wanted for ratting, one of the people in an incursion community i run with, asked me what i wanted, and give me the money not for a normal domi, but for a navy one.

also, 1 time in dodixie, i was there for shopping and 1 guy randomly handed out millions of isk to people in local, some people recivied 500 million, some 400 mill, but everyone got something from the guy.

That's SO unfair! :O

No matter if I talked about giving kindness,
or receiving kindness ...

... it'd get me banned! :(

Those people are not being nice.

They are lulling you into a false sense of security so they can rob you blind later.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

I had been playing EVE maybe 2-3 weeks. I was pecking away at some Veldspar using an industrial, this was way before Ventures came along. All of a sudden... whoosh!!! Rawr!!! bright orange beams from a Hulk, didn't know at the time what one was, shot over my nooblet head. Scared the **** out of me at first. I then convoed the pilot of the ship asking what kind of ship he was flying. He told me then proceeded for a few cycles of mining some ore for me. I would eventually have a Hulk of my own, but now I have forever left the carebear way of life behind.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

Uhm

NO

Before the Venture the way to mine was using racial frigates bonused to mining (ooh, good old Bantam mining).
If you mined with an industrial you were just doing it wrong.

Agent Blizzard. Will never forget the name. Guy gave me 2 million isk during my first week of eve along with some advice on how to spend it. For me at the time, that was a LOT of money.

Since then that character hasn't been active in ages as far as I can tell, but if he ever comes back, I'll return the favor.

I think I do. Thus my w0t.

My random act was less than 2 weeks into Eve during Revelations II. I fell in love with the Hurricane. Someone from UoC noticed my interest, tossed me 50mil, and only asked that I pay it forward.

I never forgot that, and to this day I do the same thing he did for me.

Every single time I convo'd someone who had just killed me, I got advice, fits, even corp invites.

I also noticed that the kindest dudes tend to be the ones with the most impressive killboard.

The kindest thing you can do in EVE is be harsh early. Dash their hopes when they were barely there in the first place, so later they can be wary and avoid it happening when they truly have something to lose.

Give a man a match and you warm him for a day.

Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life!

Someone once gave me a forum-like, even though I was obviously trolling.

edit: Thank you, Anslo !
2nd edit: and thank you, too, Ralph King-Griffin!

Love you all !

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Also, I'll always be grateful to TEST leadership for bringing all that blaster fodder to Faction Warfare, a few months ago.

After playing EVE for a couple months I decided to try my hand at some pvp so i went to a low sec "island" near where I did missions. Jump in in a rifter and started flying around. Tried to fight a guy in an Atron but he warped off.

I warped to a station at zero and was just sitting there when a freaking BRUITX landed on me. I was zoomed in (as noobs tend to do) so seeing the Brutix up close next to my Rifter was almost like a Scene out of JAWS where the Great White was about to chomp on a guy lol.

And i did get chomped on. I warped my pod off and the brutix guy in local told me to dock in the station. I did and he gave me all my loot plus 10 million isk (a fortune to my noobish self lol) and said 'good fight'. He didn't have to do that and i don't think I'll ever forget it.
