You guys have convinced me......

.......

I will just buy the datacores/decryptors off of the market and spend the time I would save going around and popping the noob frigates that happen to stumble upon the data/relic sites.

Thank you for the feedback.
Op success!

Check this out for an uplifting example of a new player starting to learn the more challenging parts of the game, thanks to data/relic exploration (out of highsec).

A 2007 'toon' like yourself shouldn't really be doing data/relic sites anymore.

Move on to more challenging PVE content and leave the easiest sites to the newbros.

Hey! I still do data and relic sites and I'm '09. I lived in w-space for a while too, and roam null all the time. Data and Relic can certainly be "endgame" and are great PvE for people who enjoy dodging gankers and living a relatively carefree lifestyle. Plus its fun to PvE in PvP hotspots.

I will remind everyone that it USED to be based on skill. I'm just asking a revert back to that. Wow.....everyone wants something for nothing it seems. Train the skills to get the rewards. *Snip* Please refrain from personal attacks. ISD Ezwal.

Can I just check that your complaint is that someone who doesn't have the proper skills and equipment can't access the content, and you're asking CCP to change the rules so that someone who doesn't have the proper skills and equipment can't access the content?

At the same time you're asking CCP to "do something" about the scourge of low skilled players messing up your exploration sites in null sec because you were too lazy to do something about the capsuleer that you were perfectly able to blow up on your own?

Do I have that straight?

I wonder if your real complaint is that you're not getting "juicy" targets, but instead are getting scraps, and as a result your killboard efficiency is dropping.

I actually would enjoy the mini-game being more based on skill, without necessarily making it more difficult for newer players. Perhaps giving the player a choice of a more difficult tier within the game for higher rewards. Or at least make it a bit more involved. It's actually a nice breakaway from the norm as it is, but still.

But OP, here is the dilemma; if CCP would have implemented the mini-game based on skill from the beginning, then those trolling you and belittling your idea would be adamant about making it the way it is now. At least I'm pretty confident of one or two that have posted negatively here would have.

Off topic, it reminds me a bit of the RPG Shadowrun game's hacking missions. Nice little game that was.

TLDR: If it would have been implemented from the beginning, all would have been well with little trolling or resistance. It wasn't, people hate change and love to troll, so instead you get LulZ sTooPiT iDeaRz!1!

This thread has been moved to Features & Ideas Discussion.

I also have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The Rules:
4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.
