Exploration Teams

When CCP first introduced the idea of Manufacturing Teams I thought that this general idea could be applied to other types of industry, and potentially further.

Exploration Teams work similarly to the Manufacturing Teams, except they would spend their time scanning the system looking for Anomalies and Signatures. These teams could be broken up into individual type of sites; Ore, Data/Relic, and Combat.

As the team levels increase, they would find fewer but better sites, with a small chance that they could find a site not typically located in that sec system.

No, some of us work hard to find our sigs and should not have to compete with (no other way to put this) lazy asses who don't want to do the work.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Nope, exploration is a solitary profession, always has been, always will be.

Because scanning is hard?

No, it's not.

I am not saying that these teams would scan down the sites for you, it would work like a temporary installment of null sec sov upgrades. There would just be more of these sites available in your system (or possibly constellation) than there currently is. A way for exploration or mining corps to buy upgrades for their system like manufacturing companies are going to be able to do soon.

Basically, you want to incorporate an isk sink into highsec whereby missioning/arebear corps can attempt to outbid other corporations in their constellation/region to have their system receive the benefits of increased quality in ORE/Relic/Data/Combat sites?

I mean, i woudlnt be opposed, the problem being though, these would be publicly available knowledge and therefore the people who actually voted on it would be very unlikely to ever benefit from it.

Exploration needs to get harder. Not easier. It's too routine right now, not enough mystique or mystery. I want to be Daniel freakin' Jackson, running through the Stargate looking for ancient Gou'uld artifacts.

Exploration is getting to be just as bad as running security missions, please fix this CCP.

I am not really understanding your concept because it is two things you seem to want one one part is or should be community driven and because of this it falls flat.

The latest nerf in regards to the spew and loot mechanics has given me some frustrations in regards to exploration, so I can understand the underlying cause of wanting something special while also making it engaging for teamplay.

The basic problem though lies with exploration itself and how the feature is handled for the moment then with adjusting it to a NPC/module-treated-team-feature. I think there is some potential in keeping teamplay in mind while redesigning some of the core aspects of how exploration is engaged ingame, so come up with something better, this is not it (yet).

I have some ideas myself, but they depend a bit on relations with the mission system and suggested change, but its not enough yet to realease it on the forum. (and no, I don't mean, treat it like missions, its more about how grids and complexes are handled/spawned).

I would like to see data frgaments added to loot...piece the correct fragments together and reverse engineer them for a larger and defended exploration site.. This can be done solo for gathering the data but the site should be heavy duty and require at least a small team.

Of course this would lead to people selling fragments but also corps would benefit from gathered resources

This ^^

Well, maybe not data fragments, but escalations for data/relic sites. Random chance of message saying "hey, something interesting looking pointed you to this location." If the solo explorer doesn't want to do them, he can sell the bm off to those who do.

Exploration escalations was my intention but with more of an explo feel hence gàthering fragments of dats and equipment and reverse engineering to extrapolate further locations.

Note: these should not be private locations. They should be standard deadspace but with nastier rats (sansha or sleeper standard maybe). The rewards would scale accordingly as would the risk of other relic hunters crashing your party.

I would like that too. But it's off topic. So far...

No or "-1" for the OP proposal.

If you piece the stuff together and get the escalation, it's your plex and you decide what to do with it. If it's just a regular plex that is in the system already, there's no point in the escalation because someone else could have already scanned it and run it. If someone else wants the plex location from you, they need to combat probe you and drive you out of the plex.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Scanning is too easy right now.

You have no idea how much easier CCP made it over the years.
The skill gap is 5 times smaller, the time required to setup probes is 20 times shorter and you can resize automatically wasting no time at all.

Cry me a bloody river.
