Errm... You mean The Onion? Or were you comparing the quality of the write-up to a student newspaper in Chicago?

Edit: heh... corrected before my post.

Thanks. Made a mistake. Posted the college paper The Orion. Which oddly turned out to be funny too. ;)

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Hah I remember that, funny as hell.

Slightly off topic, and not quite as funny but just as merciless in poking fun at a certain nation is the democracy speech from The Dictator

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Wait, don't move until your American attorney can get there! We have to sue the sculptor, the city, his friends who dared him, and all 22 rescue workers!

Well, it´s a good thing that happened in Europe so that guy won´t be arrested for terrorism.

Or outright shot.

I live in Europe, but I wish we had here something like the Castle Doctrine.

Yes, every once in a while - as in pretty rarely - you do hear about some innocent dude deciding to enter some other dude's house in the middle of the night for no apparent good reason and getting shot in the face for his efforts, as in that news piece.

That's unfortunate - but I do hear much more often about some bad dudes breaking into people's inhabited homes with the purpose of robbing them, and persuade them to open safes / hidden valuables stashes with beatings, torture, rape and other whatnots.

Regardless of what the law in Europe says, the way I see things is that if you break into my house in the middle of the night you have voluntarily reliquinshed *all* your rights, and I should be able to properly defend / prevent bad things from happening to myself and my family.

Or return all non-Europeans back to where they came from.
That would likely be more effective.

As it is, without some mayor change in politics one should prepare for civil war in a couple of years. Just look at southern Sweden or southern France....

Damn... my partner is a recent Chinese immigrant. I should set up a cam to make sure she's not sneaking out of our bed at nights and go burglarize, torture and rape other peoples' homes. Who knows what sort of wretched vileness lies underneath that innocent - but decidedly non white European - outside demeanor.

EDIT: actually, when I wrote the above comment, I was having in mind a string of such cases involving a violent gang of Eastern Europeans.

Fear not, every country gets a government that does stupid and evil things, it is inevitable.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  - William Pitt
