Launcher that updates while already active! :D

This is a simple idea coming from the need to restart the launcher client just so it can patch. How about a Launcher that does not need to be restarted and can patch the game while already open once it's deployed?

I just miss the old launcher that would check for updates when pressing Play.

If you mean patching the game while the game is being played, that can't happen for more reasons than I can list. If you just mean patching automatically while the launcher is left open though, I'd love that. It'd be nice to just leave the launcher open and have my game ready to go when I get home.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the launcher is first updated which allows it to download the new patch which is why the launcher must be restarted. While I'm sure that this could be fixed (For example, warthunder automatically patches whenever the launcher is open), it sounds like a lot of dev time devoted to a pretty minor inconvenience. If it's a quick fix, by all means, but if it takes a bunch of time to re-code why things update, I'd rather the devs work on more pressing matters.

I had Steam update EVE automatically while I was playing once... it was a bit like my computer had taken questionable substances.

Yeah that is what I mean. Perhaps it doesn't always have to update the launcher though, or can be adjusted on the fly with the same technology that will then restart the launcher if needed.

Fortunately, CCP only patches during DTs. So, if the launcher would automatically start to DL and apply the patches without a restart of the launcher, that'd be great for one, and secondly no harm could be done.
