Fighter Aggro Mechanics

Fighters are currently not behaving the same as other drones when fighting NPCs in aggressive mode. Here is a comparison of the attack sequence for Wasps vs. Dragonflies.

Wasps:
1. NPCs spawn
2. NPCs aggress you
3. Wasps attack first NPC aggressor
4. First NPC dies
5. Wasps attack next NPC based on size priority (cruisers > frigates > battleships)
6. Next NPC dies
7. Repeat steps 5-6

dragonflies:
1. NPCs spawn
2. NPCs aggress you
3. Dragonflies attack first NPC aggressor
4. First NPC dies
5. Dragonflies go idle

If you clear the spawn manually, they will perform this exact behavior for the new wave. Is this intended? It seems odd they only have half of the aggressive mode mechanics.

We're aware of the issue, but thanks very much for writing excellent reproduction steps! Big smile

Another thing to note is that fighter AI takes precedence. So for example you have 6 heavies out and 1 fighter. They will engage the first thing to agress you but after that dies all drones will sit idle.

I found this interesting because Light drone AI takes precedence over Gecko drone AI. While ratting with both all drones prioritize Frigates > Destroyers > Cruisers > etc

I too would like to see working drone mechanics on my carriers. Seeing as NPC dies, everything sits idle till NPCs/Rats start shooting my carrier (switching aggro to another player in this case) then suddenly they respond to Aggression instead of attack orders. Normally I'm able to set the drones to agressive and to guard someone else but recently I've seen this bug plus some weird things where NPC's prefer my drones over killing the rest of fleet (which from my understanding is supposedly a working proper mechanic).

Like in the OP is it supposed to be: Respond to aggression then slowly kill every rat on field? Because I'm not seeing that sometimes.
Sometimes I just field Fighters to watch them die instead Ugh

I believe this is relict from old time when Fighters used to behave exactly like normal drones and as such gained huge popularity at some point for fleet fights. It was a long time before TiDi implementation so large fights black-screened and lagged out regularly, but fighters were sort of unaffected cutting through the black-screened opposition while launched from utterly unresponsive carriers on their own as they were set on agressive.

So something was done to them.

I kinda always assumed that fighters are just special and you just have to tell them each time individually to attack next target. That is also one of the reasons why sentry drones are preferred over fighters in PvE.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.
