Exact distances above 10km

Distances above 10km are only displayed in km and thus intervals are 1km long. This can be quite a burden in a few scenarios. Examples: Kiting at the edge of faction web range. Mining at the edge of mining laser range.

Please add an option to display in meters as well.

Sorry, doesn't really make sense. Most ships kiting anything at +10km range will be traveling with many hundred m/s and anything under maybe ,5 km is of no use at all. And just to add that.. why?

And don't come with the miner range... ranges are flat, clean kilometers, you are either in range at the break point or not. And if you haven't noticed, any time you cant lock, activate or else, it tells you the exact range in meters vor both measures in the pop-up.

I really don't see the point either.

Hey, this thread should be dead, stop posting. And change 'just because of change' is terrible. And an option to change it into exact meters besides the why? and its pointlessness, will not be done, even if its as simple as changing one value in the code.

And stop posting JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN.

Edit to below (not worth bumping): The break point is 22km: 22.000 meter to 21.999 and once it hits that change it will show 21km, not sure how this can be misunderstood and be such an issue for anyone.. and pliots lived and mined for 11 years now without any whimpering.

This change would be handy to have in some situations, but I can only see it helping my mining alts. It has been a tad annoying when I'm in a fleet and have 22km range on my strip miners, and the rock I'm trying to bust shows at 22km away but I can't mine it.

In that case, though, I just move a bit closer to it.

Handy change, but not something worth worrying too much about.

I'd rather see nullsec SOV fixed.

So, you're a bounty hunter. No, that ain't it at all. Then what are you? I'm a bounty hunter.

Yeah it isn't a huge change but it's good. Change is good. Well, options are good anyway. No reason to not be able to do this.

Please stop badposting in my thread due to your own ignorance of the issue.

You can have a mining range bonus of 17.4km for instance. With ship bonuses and fleet bonuses, range of mid-slot modules like scrams and webs can also take on such numbers.

Also: the speed of the ship while orbiting another ship is irrelevant when the second ship is much slower. For instance orbiting a webbed Battlecruiser while in a MWD frig will keep you at roughly the same orbit distance. If you happen to be only 150m from leaving your scram range, it would be nice to know.

RoAnnon is correct when stating this change would be most useful when mining.

Today I was mining like this, and as you can see in the image I was within the 140m range needed past 17km.
About 20 minutes after this, I found that barge had it's lasers deactivated. It would seem my freighter had slightly bumped the barge, pushing it past the 17.14km range.

Yet there was no way for me to know that it left range until witnessing that the laser had disengaged after a failed cycle.

This problem arises as well when trying to decide the default laying position of the mining fleet in the belt.

Dude, calm down?

Quite a few times I've seen myself nearly in range of something, and started spamming the keys after being told that I am not in range. Metres would be a step to far imo, but within a certain range, I think a decimal place wouldn't be too much to ask for.

Then I'd spam those keys less, and I'd like that. OP has a good point imo, and it seems those who agree with him outnumber you in this thread.

You yourself admitted that .5 km might have a point to it....

For me I'd say anything under 0.1km would have no use.

Distances between 10 km and... maybe 30 or 35 km, should be shown with one decimal place, as in 10.1 or 11.4 km. Beyond 35 km, integer values are fine, but yes, mining is exactly one type of situation where it's useful to know one's exact range to possible targets, especially if one is in a target-poor enviroment, for instance when one has locked one self in to mining only a particular kind of ore via mining crystals. Also note that Mining Barges and Exhumers fly very slowly, and so moving about in a belt is a laboriously slow process.

The cut-off should be .5 and nothing smaller. 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, etc is just fine and a good mix between useful and fast.

Not saying that it's necessarily bad, but I've never had any use for this.

Considering OH'd J5b scram range is like 10.5, OH web range is something like 12.7, and those all vary depending on which meta you use, I would find it very helpful piloting when I can see meters at those ranges.

Jockeying over web/scram position literally makes or breaks 1v1's and solo fights. There's no reason why it can't be an option.

This is already literally in the game already. Just an option that lets us see it on the overview is such a little change.

Thx for the bounty, nice to be noticed some times. Big smile

And if, then .x is something I could live with, but I really don't want to see meters in my overview there, that's adding three digits extra and space is tight as it is. And if its not sorted by range, you kind of need e center column focused on the dot or values will be all jumbled and hard to read.
