This is precisely why I want to encourage people to sell them for less. They're delightfully fiendish, and would make for an awesome fight if/when I ever catch some bloke flying one.

This is really more of a PvP issue, so it totes belongs in GD.

Once the price tag drops to 750million & below, i think you will see loads more showing up for some pvp action. I gotta say a 1billion ship (without fitting), this kinda out the question for most players.. unless you have ISK to waste Shocked

Even for pve i truly don't think its worth over 1 billion, even if i have the ISK for it.

EVEBoard ...Just over 60million skill points, each skill was chosen for a reason. I closed my eyes & clicked another skill to train... "BINGO...!!!" ... "This time i got something usefull"

Well, pilots waste ISK every day. Whether they want to or not, or realize it... is the real heart of the matter.

Besides... plenty of those Alliance Tourny ships locked away in various hidey-holes... sell some of those off, instead of letting them rust away incognito, and I'm sure plenty of alliances could easily afford to give their most trusted pilots some shiny new ML boats to fleet up in.

What a concept. Blink

If you want PvP against the new Mordu's Legion ships, do what so many others are doing: Camp the Mordu's system in nullsec.

I'm averse to the idea of being given anything by your corp.
It devalues the ships you fly, and encourages bad spending habits when your corp stops handing you everything.

If you're that broke, buy PLEX or get a mission-running alt.

Do you think the cost ratio between normal and faction ships is fine (compared to their effectiveness), but that most people simply don't make the ISK to be wasting those ships in PVP? Because it sounds like I might just be one of those people. I can fly a faction BS in terms of SP, but also fly 10 faction cruisers for the same amount of ISK. That's 10 fun roams as opposed to one really flunky lossmail getting inevitably dogpiled upon. I feel the higher in class you go, the less sense it makes to fly a faction version.

I'd like to know what faction cruiser costs 1/10 of the same faction's battleship.
Most of them are 1/3 or 1/2 the cost.... unless you're looking at the Orthrus, which sells for nearly the same price, right now.

Have you ever flown a Blops or a Marauder?

Fair enough, that's one way of looking at it. Good luck with that.

The other way is that loyalty, dedication and participation are rewarded, thereby creating "esprit de corps" and a sense of pride.

At any rate... "Supply and Demand" will rule the day, as they always do, irregardless of what you or I think, or what esoteric philosophies people like to spout about how the game should be played or "it's not fair" that new ships cost so much.

Or folks can get off their arses and go hunt for bpc's.

There is a difference between price gouging and trying to get the most the market will bear for your product. In order to "price gouge" you must first corner a market niche in order to control the price from a single point; that isn't the case here to my knowledge. If you can't wait for the dust to settle and the prices to calm perhaps you should just buy a barghest then self-destruct it.

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

Self-destructing it isn't very satisfying.

Oh, now if they're given out as rewards for monthly participation, that changes everything.
My Libertarian mindset means that I have to earn everything I'm given, and will reject anything I even *slightly* feel I haven't earned. I'm a little prone to kinda/sorta looking down on others who demand and accept "hand outs", but that feeling usually doesn't last very long, and there's nearly always a way to justify it, after the fact. My standards for myself are higher than my expectations on others.

Actually, the Barghest is pretty awesome.
I do want to kill a few of them, still.

Faction Torp Barghest looks like it should get up around 1400 DPS at 30km or so. Its not too shabby really.

I'm quite scared of what those things could do if rapid heavy fit with their flat missile damage bonus.
