So I let my account lapse around October 2012 and I just reactivated my account today. Faster computer, better graphics capability (not that on the old PC Eve was a drain on those resources). Needless to say, I'm going to be quite rusty.

My question is, what has changed in that intervening time? I've tried to keep up, but haven't been haunting the forums like I used to. Fortunately, in the time I played, I accumulated a decent skill set and amassed a nice number of ships, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Another pertinent question, what's the Goon Swarm been up to? Always loved watching that alliance and all the shenanigans they'd do and/or get themselves into. :)

The main change you need to look up is probably CrimeWatch 2.0 — aggression works a bit differently now. Also, pretty much every ship will behave differently in one way or another, either because of complete rebalancing or because of universal changes such as the warp speed fixes.

Solar flares are probably the biggest change TBH.

"WoD" is officially dead and buried, "DUST" is likely headed for an equally meaningless pauper's grave, a bunch of CCP employees were shown the metaphorical airlock... and the launcher is coughing up "Socket Closed" issues faster than my cat coughs up hairballs.

Other than that, there's a big INDUSTRY redesign coming in late July... but don't hold your breath, it's already been pushed back once and CCP is now using a very flexible scheduling concept for it's releases. "Flexible" being a matter of very loose interpretation IMO.

There ya go... fly safe and keep training !

Some fairly substantial industry changes are currently on singularity, id recommend you go have a look if you're into industry.

I just came back after half a year myself and heard that there had been some industry changes.
Care to elaborate a little more about those and how they affect invention / T2 production? The old devblogs only tell how awesome everything is going to be (naturally, can't blame them for that), but I was more interested in the subjective point of view of players actually working with these changes.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Not particularly, having almost no experience with the current system my opinion would extend as far as lusting over the new ui,

I'll point you here to the sisi feedback threads (which all have link's to the relevant devblogs)
where the usual suspects are giving their opinions (though they let the tooltips through without raising the place so might be worth going on yourself).

What has changed....

The hammer of nerfing has been well wielded, the cloth of buffing has been applied, the warm and fuzzy community of cooperative and welcoming pilots has become more welcoming, and the carrot of new "stuff" has been well and truly dangled.

Carrots... mmmmmm

Its exactly the same as 2012 just shinier
