I remember a website that would tell you what the best way to get a certain amount of minerals based on your skills, stations and location. Anyone know what is?

Best place to get minerals:

The market.

Mine what makes you the most isk, sell it, buy the mix you need.

This is all well and good for the next month. However, after July 22 you're going to be needing minerals but buying compressed ore. A calculator that would give the cheapest combination of ores to yield the desired quantity of minerals would be very helpful.

Nah, there will still be plenty of minerals on the market.

First miners put ore on the market.

Then people with good refining skills will buy up compressed ore, reprocess them one jump outside a trade hub, then ship them in to the market, making a profit in the process.

Come Crius, I am planning on having a tool to tell you the smallest (by m3) arrangement of compressed ore (basic types only. no point putting in the higher percentage versions) for a particular arrangement of minerals.

I already have the basic code written (for mineral compression with modules), so it's really just working the various ore refining skills, and facilities into it.

While it's not quite what's asked for, it's close.

You might want a version which uses minimal price instead of minimal volume, it might be closer to what most people want.

If you're going to link a chart, at least link one with prices which update. And which has accurate numbers. That one's hideously out of data.

Except that I'm the guy that will be transporting ore to null for super cap builders.

Steve, the ratios of what minerals come from what ores aren't changing except for where CCP has specifically said they are adding some low-ends to ABCs. Compressed ores will have the same mineral content ratios. So other than rewriting your refining calcs, it should be pretty easy.

Just take old spreadsheet and array multiply the mineral contents by 1.381 * new_batch_size / old_batch_size. Copy new values into old sheet. Delete new sheet. Now replace your list of compression modules with the compressed ores.

Biggest problem in my mind is making sure everything gets rounded so that the values match what CCP actually puts out.

iirc the ABCs are changes (as per the barge one)

And one reason I'm leaving it a while is: I'm lazy Blink right now it loads everything from a database. It should be simple enough to transfer that over to the compressed ores, once that happens, with the new compressed ore volumes.

Then I need to work in the math for refining, which isn't hellish. (I'll be providing for storage of refining skills, once the SSO trial gets off the ground)

I developed a software a while ago which actually does this kind of things. I called it "Ore Mining Optimizer". You enter the minerals you need and the minerals you have, calcs the difference and tells you which ores and how many you need with the least volume.

Features:

  • Enter Minerals you need (according to Blueprint) and minerals you have (in your hangar). Difference will be used
  • Refining skills, station equipment base yield and standings considered (no implants... yet)
  • Calculates amount of ores with least volume (in m³)
  • Tells you how many minerals you can get and how much you will lose

Known issues:

  • Rounding issues (thx CCP) may give you much higher results
