You want them to waste dev time on horrible features that will in every way be far inferior than what's already available?

No thanks. I'd prefer it if they stuck with fixing things only they can fix and on giving players even more ability to write 3rd-party tools to do all kinds of wonderful things that are best developed by more knowledgeable and insightful people than those CCP has in-house.

An alarm was about to go off

So I "preempted" it

I'd rather use third party tools that work than CCP developed ones that don't because they're unfinished, like some of the content in Eve.

07 3rd party developers for making awesome stuff for us to abuse.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

+1

The great thing about 3rd party tools is that you can use them without having to install a whole damn EVE client. I've get lots of 3rd party tools on a flash drive so i can screw around and EFT-warrior on my breaks at work.

pretty sure for every game I've played 3rd party resources have been far more useful than what the developers publish alone.

I almost agree on some level... but not the whole thing.

I would suggest that there should be nothing a 3rd party tool has access to which isn't available directly in-game (a jump sphere or a measure tool in the map is needed). A 3rd Party program may be able to do many things at once (you can calculate how long it will take you to train a skill, you can read it off the character sheet - but EVEMon can tell you how long a 100 skill queue will take) or combine several things together simultaneously (Is my Logi cap stable?) but I don't think there should ever be a need to use a 3rd Party tool, nothing which you can only determine through them. 3rd Party tools should (IMHO) be a convenience rather than a crutch.
If I want to know whether I can jump a carrier from system 'A' to system 'B' then I should be able to determine that in-game... but DOTLAN can tell me if I need to stop off at 'C', 'D' and 'F' on the way, how many 'topes it will take and whether there are stations in those systems in one neat and easy package.

A more serious topic at hand:

How is Ramona McCandles in the first 1-5 replies of every single thread I make no matter which alt I use?

The only logical conclusion is that Ramona McCandles is my alt too and I just don't know it.

Why is the second "s" in my surname hard for some people to type?

I bet CCP are sick of comments like this.

Actually, I agree in principle that these should be integrated with the game long term (even if it means buying the code from 3rd party developers). But, just to be awkward because you're hiding behind a silly named alt and being a bit childish about it, I'm going to pretend not to.

If you could go torture the RPers on their forum with that name, I might change my mind. Go on, redeem yourself Arrow

I always thought it kinda cool that eve breed the sort of player commitment and ingenuity that folk would go out and create useful items for use in game.

As for specific points raised above, (1) the in-game map has a lot of functionality - you are obviously not using it right; and (2) you do not want a universe where everyone had perfect knowledge of markets conditions everywhere at all times as it would eliminate/limit the possibility of obtaining profits by moving goods from region to region.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.
