which one of these ships has a stronger active tank WITHOUT a super blingy pod (i.e. crystals)?

it seems to me it would be the myrm as you can fit armor repair rigs, however, since the cyclone is shield tanked, it also benefits from shield regen and is also a tad bit faster with a smaller sig radius (but maybe not after putting shield resistance rigs on it, not sure) so its harder for damage to actually be applied to it

so i guess what im asking boils down to, is, which one is harder to kill? typically

EDIT: maybe this shouldve gone in warfare and tactics

Usually a cyclone is harder to kill if hostile field neuts, otherwise it'll be the myrm.
Cyclone applies its dps better and more utility medium slots but pays with dps and hostiles can kill your dps by smartbombing your drones

Triple Rep Myrm.

Cyclone is pretty f*cked once it runs out of Cap charges i.e. the ASB needs to reload while the Myrm can hold up pretty long with cap booster charges.

Neut immunity of the Cyclone plays a big part in its tank, as some don't even fit an invuln and just go for shield boost amps instead. The Myrm is susceptible to neuts and it's drones being killed. Generally speaking I'd say the Cyclone has the better tank, but the Myrm can have full tackle, more dps and more versatility in general.

Active ASB-cyclone doesn't work without Crystals or resistlinks, classy shieldboosted cylcone needs both to push the tank to the 4-digit region where the fun starts.

Myrm though is plainly better without links/imps. It got superior damage, way superior application (2 Geckos are sick, 4 heavies are also very decent), nad autocannons in conjunction with web/scram is usually reliable to dispose of frigates.

It is feasible though to fit a Cyclone with one L ASB and a XL ASB, since you can fit 5 HAMs, 2 small neuts and 3 BCS. Cycle your L ASB throgh first, then run the XL ASB until the L is ready again and so forth. When your XL ASB is through its charges - you're quite likely to die in a jiffy. With crystals and 4link/5link-gu though, this is stupidly good.

Personally, ran only two different setups for the cyclone ( http://puu.sh/9n5lR/2b31a6edf0.png , http://puu.sh/9n5qo/8157c17b28.png ) and can say it's really ****** without atleast web+scram.
