Occasional tags which can be turned into datacenters. Rarely a module or some worthwhile salvage (tritanium bars, armor plates, etc). The majority of the worth is in the bounty though.

Most salvage in the game comes from exploration sites, not from salvaging either player wrecks or NPC wrecks.

Inefficient ways of getting salvage (such as using salvager modules on NPC wrecks) are not very rewarding.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

T2 and T3 ships may yield some expensive salvage but if you can fit something more usefull, so so. I only fit salvagers if there's absolutely nothing else I can do with the high slot the salvager would take.

Once upon a time salvage from rats and pc ships was a decent way for a new player to make isk. Then ccp changed exploration and flooded the market making it generally pointless to go through the effort. In fact, the general consensus seems to be that when you do missions you should ignore the wrecks and just blitz for maximum isk/hour.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

the main thing you are missing is that the market is player-run. supply and demand dictate prices. if not enough people want to buy rigs, the salvage they are made from automatically drops in price until it bottoms out at a price where many players will not even bother putting up market orders.

I should buy an Ishtar.

It matters more if you also have skills for manufacturing and market PvP. Lacking these, it's better to simply kill more rats than try to make arts and crafts from their corpses.

Loot from wrecks can still be worth stealing, especially if you are a new player and you are looting level 4s. Salvaging NPCs is pointless on today's market, though. I'd love to see CCP take some steps to balance this, but I suppose they have other priorities.

Salvaging player ships is still worthwhile, especially T2 and T3 hulls. A newbie could make a good living following the New Order around and salvaging all the Mackinaw and Hulk wrecks.

There really isn't much point, really. Salvaging missions under level IV isn't worth your time. Whether level IV missions are worth salvaging is a matter of debate. Check for loot and leave NPC wrecks in missions.

Do people still do the ninja looter thing?

There are salvaging services that will do your mission (level IV) looting for you - a new player could work for them and make ok ISK (Not sure what the introduction of the Mobile Tractor Unit has done to that business). Or one could pick the bones in Faction Warfare systems - use D-scan to find player wrecks and salvage them...

You're not missing much, OP.

Worth the time in Level 4 while you are finishing the last ships in a pocket.

A dominix can make use of it : drop mobile tractor unit, pop the large micro jump drive, shoot at stuff from long range with sentry, use MJD a second time to come to the MTU to get the loots, salvage the battleships wrecks, get MTU back then move on in next pocket. In this case you don't lose any time and get some millions isk in salvage. As the dominix doesn't need every highslot, it is better than nothing. And this crap doesn't take cargo space anyway ...

Even if it is not a lot of isk it helps the newbros dominix players get some money.

I disagree, low level salvage/exploration allows new players and novices to such devices learn. It does not have to "be" about Isk and getting rich, you may find relic sites exploration sites and find items that you can use later on, if you truly love this game, anything you do should be worth while. Do not sprint such negativity on new eden's next generations.

Saw someone get blapped outside my station when I was heading off to mine. Rushed back to switch ships. Went back out and he was already looting his ship. He left fast and I was able to salvage the yellow wreck (this was in hi sec) and got a million in armor plating.

Not bad, thinks I.

That is nice to hear a new player/novice to salvaging has decent gil source. Every new player should venture out and try salvaging such wrecks even in dangerous areas.
