High Sec Wormhole

Add a stable wormhole in a high-sec system.
Inside that wormhole is a w-space system with 1.0 security, concord and normal stations
Normal unstable wormholes attach to it

Use this system to introduce new players to wormholes
When they enter the system, run a tutorial explaining wormholes to these players.

The high-sec wormhole system with random and fluctuating connections to other areas of w-space should increase w-space traffic and likely create a new trade hub.

Here is a graphical explanation of the idea: https://i.imgur.com/idiJ9Tx.png

Feel free to tell me how awful this is.

Teach new players that wormholes are generally safe, when in reality they aren't?

Great way to make new players appreciate Eve. Do you know how many new players WHers shoot every day? We'd like some bigger fish coming in from K-space, and new players would like to be taught how to not get alpha'd less than 60 seconds after jumping through, I'm sure.

tutorials never gonna cut it. the tutorials also try to get u used to losing ur ship, but ppl still rage when they get ganked. Best just referring them to players and the eve uni wiki.

plus wormholes are intended to be the unknown.

EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided"

Agreed, wormholes are supposed to be scary, unknown and mysterious. That's the point. I get what you're trying to do and can't fault you for it, but I think it undermines the whole point of wormholes.

The most defining feature of wormholes is the requirement to be able to cloak.
Encouraging players to visit who have not gained the most basic wormhole skill will just turn your new system into a "shooting fish in a barrel" gankfest.
Sure we will have lots of new HS Gankers as targets, but that would give nothing to HS explorers.

As it is many of us will reimburse new WH explorers with enough Isk to replace their ships and pods with a good profit, if we find we have killed a noob, in honour of their bravery.

I do not think the gankers will do that though........

Just needed to point out that we do have some class.....

But all of those ships are bait/recon ships until proven otherwise, and the only way to prove it is with fire and explosions. Lol

Yup, friend of mine was 1 month into the game, managed to scan down a wormhole, decided to poke his nose in with his heron, died instantly to a tengu guarding the entrance. He managed to get his pod out. Not sure how. Tengu pilot convo'd him, and after talking to him for a few minutes decided he really was a new player, and dropped the loot from the Heron in station and contracted it back to him, including the sister probe launcher I'd given him for laughs.

got a new player in a WH - told him his mistakes, and gave him enough isk for a new ship and fit (and he got the free experience of dying in fire)

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

My first foray into wormholes ended in the burning of my ship and pod. I wasn't a rookie at this timd, just new to wormholes, but I ended up learning how wormholes work from the guy who ganked me cause I asked him questions. This is what new players need to be encouraged to do, ask questions. Don't give them a false sense of security with extra pointless missions and mission areas.

As requested: Your idea is awful. Big smile

I agree. I am more than willing to ask questions of guys who beat me, whether I actually die or not. Many of them are more than willing to answer as well. In addition I've had people I kill convo me or mail me and ask questions, and I'm always more than willing to answer. That is, assuming they are being polite and not just calling me names in anger. If you want to get people into wormholes, get a scanning ship or such, get newbros into rifters (those are like 1mil each) and start running c2 anoms (without sentries) with them while you explain what's going on. 9/10 you will die in there while doing so. It's a lot more fun to jump into such a rifter and die than to sit in a Draek and care.+

(ed: c1s don't work cause the swarm of frigs will eat rifters alive)
