Pretty much every EVE player that flys combat ships loves to use EFT, PYFA, and others to get an idea of how different ships would perform if fit in different ways. There is absolutely no reason why this should not be an in-game function. In fact, having features in-game like those offered by popular 3rd party tools could also offer expansion on those services. For example:

1) I decide I want to try out harbingers... I've had the skills for it since forever but haven't flown one before. I go to Jita and open my fitting window.

2) I create a test-fit using whatever modules I please, or decide to filter based on modules available in station

3) I create a complete fit, rigged and with drones and ammo (ok, so not quite 'ammo' since it's a laser boat) and get the statsheet that shows me my EHP (including active modules like damage controls...seriously why hasn't this happened yet?), DPS, pretty much everything the fitting window should show - and also a package price based on the lowest orders used in my range filter (let's say 92M ISK for the sake of argument)

4) I click the Buy This Fitting button, and magically all the items get bought and the ship gets completely fit in my hangar (maybe also include the option to insure the ship at this step)... or not fit if I happen to set my range to anything other than Station.

Why this is a good thing:

-Losing a ship sucks enough without needing to go buy every single module and rig separately - especially in places like faction warfare where ship losses can be almost constant.

-This is a basic quality-of-life feature that players need to resort to 3rd party tools for. It could be better if incorporated properly into the game.

Why this is a bad thing:

-There are war profiteers who like to buy components, fit up ships, and list them on contracts for a small profit. These players would need to find something else to do, since performing this tedious task would no longer yield the same profit.
