I've been using the Gila instead of the Ishtar for hisec exploration today. I like it. I can't snipe with sentries like on my Ishtar, but I can move towards gates and stuff while doing damage now. Decent trade-off for me. I don't have to recall drones in sites. Ever. They have massive tanks. I'm using augmented drones by the way, something I wouldn't bother to do on any other ship. The Gila's cargohold is now 440 too, instead of 200 or whatever nonsense it was before, so I can actually loot stuff with it now. With the drone changes I now can do more EMP damage than before, for when I get into fights with other explorers, and they will have a harder time shooting down my drones. Its got one utility high slot but since the majority of the damage comes from the drones, its an easy choice to convert some of the missile hardpoints to more utility slots if desired.

All in all a great ship, I'm enjoying it. I've used it in the past but the Ishtar made it obsolete. Now its back and offers an interesting choice.

Rattlesnake losing 1/3 of it's max damage with meds an lights for one more missile launcher with bonus was not worth it at all.
(( Losing an auxilary slot for a drone nerf on top of it. ))

Best drone ships in game can't field smaller drones for **** anymore.
No longer useful as neut/sniping ships any more either.

Good patch to take up industry if you were a Gurrista pilot I guess.

Why are you guys trying to explain things to someone that doesn't want to adapt?

Gila is not nerfed. It is a DIFFERENT beast now. Adapt to it and see if it loves you back.

Warp in to site. Launch drones. Focus fire. Aggressive. AFK.

Occassionally come back to check they havent got 15 frigates trying to kill them. Profit AFK style.

Can I have the Gilas of all the pilots that don't like the changes? Seriously, those drones have a huge tank, its probably finally worth buying Augmented drones, bonused missile damage, I'd say it's a buff.

New gila is awesome. It is more than just a re-skinned ishtar now. I can move from gate to gate and spew missiles and not have to sit in one spot babying my sentry drones.

Also, the Gila truly shines with augmented medium drones.

That awkward moment at the Gentlemen's Club when you see your sister on the stage....and you're not sure where to put the money....

Can someone post a new fit that's balanced b/w tank and gank and what sort of dps/ehp you are getting? My client isn't working at the moment

The new Gila is only nerfed if you try to fit and fly it like the old Gila.

The new Gila is like a missile boat with a pair of tiny assault frigates supporting it.

If you want to fly a ship like the old Gila, I hear Ishtars are still available and selling well....

I am accepting contracts for Gilas at a mere 15% below market price subject to location at my discretion. If you don't want your Gilas, I will take them.

EDIT: I will not pay for your rigs either, rip them off or sell them to me free.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

How do so many of you miss the role bonus it has of 500% increase to HP and damage of medium drones?

Put 2 augmented drones in its drone bay, and you suddenly have two 9000 hitpoint drones running around doing the damage of FIVE drones a piece (if you have all lvl 5 skills).

There is a reason the price of these ships is so extremely bloated right now, and its not because it got nerfed.

New Gila doesn't need light drones. With you the drone changes you can fit a drone speed module (zomg they are useful now) and your Valks will shred any frigs going slower than 4875m/s.

Alternatively you can spew light missiles at fast frigs. The new gila got bonus to all missiles so even the plain frig LML will do decent damage against the few frigs that are actually faster enough to outrun your 4875m/s valks.

take it all back, its a beast.
didnt try augmented drones but did buy some faciton drones and they can are mini-beasts.

i dont have perfect drone skills but there were regularly hitting for 500 wrecking shots.

ate a blood arch templar in like 3 seconds.
