After specialization comes Mastery!

I talked to a lot of older in here people and better players than me and told me the most wasted skill that isn't worth the 2% is getting weapon specialization to level 5.

My suggestion is this:

Reaching level 5 specialization of a weapon will unlock a new skill that it will called mastery.By getting to this skill you really become a master of a weapon and with this skill you will get some bonuses 5% dmg and/or other bonuses according to level of mastery.

But to make this skill balanced you will be able to have only one mastery for each character .For example if you get cruise missiles specialization to 5 you will be able only to master cruise missiles for large weapon and nothing more.So the system will ask you if you really want to become a master of this weapon.

I think, it is a good idea. I dont call it wasted to train a weapon specialization on lvl5 if you use this weapon very often, but the benefit is very poor. But never the less, your called "mastery" should give them more benefit, but it also have to be a real challange to train it.

For example:

medium Artillery Mastery (Rank 10) = +1% RoF and +1% tracking for ALL medium Artillery Turrets (incl. Faction)

large Autocannon Mastery (Rank 16) = +1% RoF and +1% accuracy falloff for ALL medium Artillery Turrets (incl. Faction)

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

The entire point behind the skill system is "diminishing returns" for the amount of time you dump into it. This is what allows newbies to more or less match multi year veterans.

Would you like to add power attack and weapon finesse to your list of feats skills?

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

You can already gain a +5% bonus to a single weapon category of small/medium/large sizes by getting an implant. No new skills are required.

+1 First CCP should nerf the base stats for said module by 10%. To get your dps back to pre-nerf level you will have to train the new skill (rank 20) to V.

Even better the new skill will only work if you have a new pirate implant set plugged in. This implant set will be player manufactured, parts for this implant set is harvest from a new class of phantom sites.

Implementation of character mastery has long been in my mind, yet I haven't thought of its details yet.
"Categorized" way on "One mastery per character" is pretty good and if it can be changed per neural remap, it would be even better. I liked it.

Only if we'd be able to vast 9th level spells of mass destruction once we skill for the super bomber class.

We just have to avoid people making kobold alts, training Divine Minion I, and then rolling all of Null sec from the safety of the log-in screen.

Some people like it some people not. Also some people posted some really nice ideas .I think with some work it might be balanced and make the useless specialization level 5 a better skill to train for.
