Hi

I am considering a move to null sec. I have heard that Providence Region is not so bad for noobs. I have looked at the systems in that region and haven't yet found an NPC station, just Player-owned ones. Is it safe to just fly to a POS and dock up there? Or will I get myself killed?

What's the normally acceptable procedure for this type of thing?

CVA maintains a Not Red, Don't Shoot (NRDS) policy. Pilots of a neutral affiliation are welcomed in their space, if they uphold CVA's laws of aggression. Piracy is not tolerated in CVA space, and pirates are actively hunted.

Neutrals are welcomed by CVA to exploit and use space controlled by CVA at their own discretion. With the exception of erecting POSs, Neutrals may mine, rat, and explore without restriction. Pilots who live in the area for a period of time and are active in patrolling Providence are given access to intelligence channels.

When pilots commit an act of piracy against CVA members, a CVA diplomat will contact the perpetrator's corporation or alliance to have the damage reimbursed and the culprit removed. If that request is denied, the corporation or alliance will be considered hostile for an infinite period.

Since CVA's list of hostiles has grown long over the years, the list of standings in-game was not long enough to annotate all the hostiles. CVA has thus adopted a web-based Kill on Sight list (KOS Checker). People living within the areas under CVA influence are only allowed to engage individuals or entities on this hostile list which is also followed by the Providence Holders Coalition of which CVA is the leader.

If you are not on their KOS list, they probably won't bother with you. However, that doesn't mean others in Providence will leave you alone too.

If you a newb thats looking to move to null why not join Brave Newbies out in Catch? I looked into CVA and decided against it due to the nrds, poor resources in area, and just general alliance philosophy. Not that i have anything against them but if your goals are to help a great alliance take sovereignty and are a newb than Brave Collective is for you. Besides if you join CVA or move down there soon you might find yourself overunned by us:))

I think it is awfully difficult to do anything in null w/o belonging to an alliance.

Providence is full of corporations so you can probably find one to suite you. That being said, you need to understand what you are getting into. Since Providence is Not Red Dont Shoot (NRDS) you can in theory live there as a complete neutral. However, since Providence is also relatively neutral in the current null sec politics arena, a lot of null sec entities go down there for good fights. That means that if you as a new player get in there, your going to be plunged into that headfirst. Remember that most of null sec is Not Blue Shoot It (NBSI), so the ones down there for good fights will absolutely shoot you on sight if your not "blue" (known friendly via in game mechanics) with them.

I am not sure familiar enough with the various Providence corps to know how they handle new players, but you will likely want someone to help walk you through fleets etc. As was mentioned above, Brave Newbie or EvE University have extensive newbie programs so that is another good option.

I wouldn't go to Provi at this time, start in NPC null like Syndicate and then work from there.
