I was just wondering why aren't there any notifications telling you that your medical clone needs to be updated?

They should just make it a monthly bill instead of a per clone cost and you only need to manually address the matter when you are lacking the ISK to pay the bill. Then no one will forget the clone update, PvPers can pod each other at their leisure and all those that never get podded just have to eat it. You'd still lose implants with the pod, so there's still a risk and loss involved.

Just get EVEMon and you'll have notifications for all sorts of things, including out-of-date clones.

IMO, manual clone upgrade is an unnecessary piece of micro-management and it does not create any meaningful gameplay. Also with the high costs coming with age, your char becomes less useful for high risk PvP - but why did you skilled it then in the first place?

You put enough effort in to show support by typing +1, instead of just liking the post.

Guessing if you don't pay the bill or can't you get SP loss? Or perma-death?

Please say perma.

Though while I understand the need, I still think individual clone costs is beneficial as a deterrent from suicide pod zergs/scouts. Now granted you could counter that by A) <900k alts Alts or B) Not allowing pods to see local/ship overview/directional scanner.

+1 and a like :)

I think it's a good idea. However, a tickbox in General Settings would mean that those that think it's unnecessary can turn it off. That way everyone is happy.

Also, there is a forum for Features and Ideas.

I'd also add an option to auto-update (if you have the ISK) whenever:

a) your skill points go above the current treshold

b) you get podded

Losing an outdated clone makes for amusing facepalm moments, but I don't feel it really adds that much to the gameplay.

Good to see that you are looking to build up support for your idea, perhaps it would be even better in the aptly named forum. Smile

No.

Losing SP because you forgot to update your clone is epically funny. I think I shrieked out loud everytime it happened to me, was fun. Get Evemon.

I've had that sinking "You're an idiot" feeling. Only once thankfully, but the 8 days of training to catch the points back up was a good lesson.

I doubt it will ever happen to me again. Experience is a really good teacher.

EDIT: Writing that I've only once had that "You're an idiot" feeling is perhaps a little optimistic. I've only had it once in relation to skillpoint loss due to an out of date clone. Aside from that, I seem to have that feeling more often than I'd like.

I don't have issue with an avoidable SP loss mechanic.

I take issue with a mechanic that taxes skill progression and PVP. Older players, bolder players, and older, bolder players are penalized more heavily. Why is that? Is there a good, defensible reason for it?

Try losing BS5 3 times within a few weeks. Twice on the same alt Roll

Same. I've already commented on this. Go bark at someone else grumpy.

I would not be against a feature like this. But... I've never encountered this problem myself. Not on a single character. Ever.

When you get podded, the medical button even flashes nowadays.

So if I had to distribute development time, this would not be on top of my list.

As far as issues go with clones, I share the opinion of James Amril-Kesh. A clone costing 50 million plus, adding a major price to even a Talwar brawl...

Don't undock what you cant afford to lose means I'm paying it every time, but I could have bought some gorgeous ships for all that ISK.
