Yeah I agree with the OP 100%

As for the rest of you, shame on you!

Solution on tracking character!

All the names they have ever had show up in a name change history viewable on the character sheet by everyone.

Limit the number of name changes to 10 or something like that.

In character creation the character has to enter a 3rd naming option. This name can never be changed and is only viewable by CCP
