hey,

i am using an ati 7970 based r280x card.

when using dx11 mode, dynamic shadows look very strange, almost as if only the wireframe of the modells is used to draw the shadow. i have googled on this, but got no matching results.

its a bit hard to take good screenshots on this, as this issue is much better to see when the shadows are moving.

still, i made two screenshots, maybe they are helpful.

We're aware of this issue, we will advise players when an AMD driver is released that will fix this issue and we have verified it as working.

thank you for your reply, tho i do not like the answer.

as i see it, its pretty safe to assume amd will put the blame for this on the eve client, and not fix it. after all, shadows work well in most games on amd cards.
and no matter if amd realy is to blame for this or not - shouldnt it be in the interest of ccp to find a solution anyway?

ccp and amd playing old maid (is this a suitable proverb?) over this most certainly will not benefit the players of eve.

So I am not going crazy??! These ugly shadows have been plaguing my ships since last year. I thought it was my card but it is good to have closure, on it being a known issue...I guess.

I run a radeon HD 7790. Just updated to latest driver (14.10) and the dreaded tessellated 'webbing' shadows are still not fixed. I just logged in on sisi and the 'webbed' shadows are still there (with the new Kronos patch).

The new ships (Which all look AWESOME btw!) still have the issue so I don't think it's a ship model tessellation issue but more a rendering issue, perhaps dx11 issue. I have attached a link (The red circle is mine Smile) I wish I could help more but, full time job and all Blink

It took AMD roughly 6 months to come up with their latest driver (I know because I have been checking for updates since this shadow issue popped up.) I would hate to play EVE with shadows disabled for the rest of the year. And do we want new players who subscribe to eve, who have new ATI graphics cards, to accept this shadow issue as a standard graphical issue? How can we help to fix this bug? Wishing CCP all the best!

We talk directly to AMD to resolve ATI card specific issues, and this one is no different. When we receive a driver from AMD that contains the fix for this and becomes available to the public we will let you know.
