Suggestion for the new Gila stats that makes everybody happy.

I have read a lot of posts from other players about the Gila and I found a great deal of these posts to be fairly accurate. Having a 20mb bandwidth is atrocious for any drone ship. I understand fully that a 500% bonus is huge and is much appreciated. However you cannot fly any other type of drone, not even a full flight of unbonused light drones. I am sure that you have seen many of these posts with different opinions and ideas on the Gila so I will not be getting into every detail. I understand that CCP is trying to lock the Gila into a specific role but I think it can be done better than this.

My only issue is I personally like having a full flight of drones, it makes me feel badass. Not only that, a full flight of drones tends to make your enemy tremble. Its simple, do you fight that guy over there with 5 drones that do a ton of damage? Or do you fight the other guy over there that has 2 drones that do the same amount of damage but his drones have more HP?

Another example for this. Mr Peebody is in his Caracal sitting inside a FW spot. He ignores his DSCAN long enough that a Gila pops in and launches drones. He is then pointed and sees a swarm of 5 drones coming at him. The shock value is much more than seeing 2 drones coming after you. Lets do one more!

You are in a fleet fight and it is going pretty well for your fleet. Your FC gives the order to Primary the Drones that the 2 Gilas popped out. You and your allies then have to take down 10 Drones. This will require more targeting for your fleet increasing the time of the battle. If these Gilas only carry 2 drones then your fleet has to only target and kill 4 drones.

So how do we remedy this? Simple, INCREASE the bandwidth and LOWER the bonus!

Cut that 500% bonus and make it 140%. Then set the bandwidth from 20 to 50.
This lets you use 5 Medium Drone and you get the same DPS that you would with the 2 Medium Drones at 500%.
This will allow the use of other drones, although ineffective but still possible. This also lets us have a full flight of medium drones.

Current Stats (in math form!)
If one drone does 25dmg, then 2 drones do 50dmg plus 500% = 300 (This is just an example and not the real damage values)

New Stats (in math form!)
If one drone does 25dmg, then 5 drones do 125dmg plus 140% =300 (This is just an example and not the real damage values)

Not only does this keep CCP happy with what they are trying to do with the Gila, it keeps the community happy with a full flight of mediums that do the exact same DPS and overall combined HP.

Now I took the time to come up with what I think would be a solid solution. So I think you should take the time to look this over and tell me what you think. As well as a possible CCP response on this.

The new gila is very interesting, just fly another ship with 50 bandwith if you want a full flight of medium drones.

Feeling badass was more personal on my end.

This is a topic that is flooded in one of the Dev posts about the Gila Changes. Figured i would throw out my thoughts on it.

I would support raising the Gila's drone bandwidth to 25 so it can field a full flight of unbonused lights...

if you want to feel badass with your full flight of 5 bonused medium drones you can fly the arbitrator or its T2 versions, or the Legion with the proper fit, or the prophecy, or the armageddon, or the vexor and any of it's children, or the myrmadon, or the proteus or the dominix or the sin...

I want my drones to ask 'Ahh you Sarah Connaah?' in a strong Austrian accent in local before blowing the **** out of whichever target is selected...followed by 'Tehminated...' when they go pop...

The only ship that can have the words "badass" and "medium drones" is the Skiff.

Gilas role is perfectly fine as it is going to be, there are no reasons to have so many of drone ships that do basically the same thing.

As for shock part... Noobs are going to die either way and old players won't even twitch either way.
After you have fought 4v16 a few times 1v1 just doesn't have that oh crap factor anymore.

This has never happened ever. Nobody in a fleet fight calls primary on drones from a ship with bonuses to ehp of drones.
If they did you need a new FC.
With the new gila these drones will have more ehp than the damn gila. why not just kill the gila and stop the drone and the missile damage at once?
There are plenty of ships that launch 5 drones. maybe try a vexor navy or a curse or similar?

hahahahaha! Yeah, totally. I've never been in a fleet where the FC has said to target drones. It would be dumb and any FC that did that wouldn't have pilots in their fleet for much longer.

We did once when we had chased subcaps into the pos we were killing with nados and they dropped 7 carriers on us. we killed all their sentries every time they launched them, then killed the pos sadly of the ones inside the pos including the carriers escaped by changing the pos pw before it died and jumped away.
We also do when fighting in frigs quite a lot but the new gurista bonus makes killing their drones a fools task as it is harder than actually killing the parent ship.

FCs in fleet I have been in have told me to target drones on super tanked drone ships that we have held down with webs. Its rather common actually.

But adding 50mb bandwidth and dropping the 500% to 140% is the EXACT same combined DPS and EHP of all the drones. The only difference is you have 5 drones out instead of 2.

This also lets anyone who wants to use other drones unbonused. I don't really see an issue with this.
