The Kronos release will be published on June 3rd, 2014, and with this release we will see an enormous amount of new features, improvements, and exciting changes.

CCP Seagull, Senior Producer of EVE Online, presents in her second Kronos overview blog more of the brilliant content coming with Kronos: a new Typhoon model, Mordu’s Legion contraband sites in low-security space, low slots for Freighters and Jump Freighters, improved Mac client due to a Cider update, and a lot more.

Check out CCP Seagull's latest dev blog Coming In Kronos, Part II and get ready for Kronos!

Question regarding the Mac client:

The present TQ client uses about 1.5 gig memory. Ive been on Sisi, and the client is using 3 gig memory there. I'm wondering if I'll still be able to run 3 clients like I do now. I would hate to lose that capability to just get some pretty lights.

Is this going to stay that way? Or is it temporary because you have not yet flipped all the "Optimize" switches when you built the client?

The Typhoon is looking very nice now. Can't really call it a dustbin any longer though...

Hi Vincent,

This is actually not quite the case, the client is using the same memory footprint (~1.5GB) as before. When we upgraded the Cider version for the Mac client we received improved memory reporting that Transgaming has been working on over the last few months. This new method gives us a more accurate view of how much virtual memory space is being used which includes system reserve space, OS, driver and stack space for non-windows threads,

So in essence this will not change the amount of clients you can run previous to the Kronos release.

So-- Mordus raiding Guristas sites all through lowsec, not just Guristas/Caldari lowsec? Huh. :x

Also, "This will in turn lead to further new sites being revealed for all those..." makes me go, '?' Looking forward to tomorrow's devblog!

Also also, this sort of plot-related development is slightly head-scratching when there's no news build-up or news development until patch day. If you could free the lore/news guys from the salt mines long enough to start things bubbling when you start development instead of when you start deployment... ;)

Edit: ...alternatively, if the Mercury team is still active...

Important question: you talk about mac client updates. As a mac client user, this makes me happy, especially:
Quote:

Support for Retina displays.

I'm left wondering, though-- did the mac client "freeze" bug get fixed? *Will* it ever get fixed, or are mac players always going to be at risk of finding themselves unable to control their clients at the worst possible moment? (ATXI, on a station in null in a JF, as a member of a bomber wing...)

e: for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, the mac client will exhibit a total UI freeze periodically. You can't move the cursor or control the UI, but you are still in space in whatever configuration you were before it happened. The only solution is to force-quit; when you do so, your client will disconnect and you will ewarp as normal if you can.

Slightly off topic, but yes, the ISD Mercury team is indeed alive and active!

I hope so. For some reason I've been spared the freeze bug as you describe for many months. But I have been getting a different type of freeze bug. The computer will lock up, everything, except the mouse. It will persist like that for 5 to 50 seconds, then start working again.

This update should bring greater stability to the Mac client, there are some outstanding issues we are still investigating. I would like to encourage you to file a bug report after the Kronos release if you still experience the freezing.
