Hyperion - what is it good for?

So I've had one in the hangar for a while now, and I know they changed them to fewer guns and higher damage mod per gun. But does anyone really use a hyperion and what for?

It can be used as a rather effective PvE platform with Rails/Blasters and a full flight of Sentry Drones. In PvP it's commonly fit with a heavy active tank (Triple Rep or Dual Rep with links) so it can be a great brawler on gates/stations against multiple targets being able to tank around 2-3k dps and put out 1k+ dps depending on the setup. Overall it's a nice versatile Battleship, utiity high, great dps and tank, flexibility from a decent dronebay/bandwith etc. However the problem will all Battleships is that they are slow and thus not very suited to solo except in certain circumstances.

Stick and ancillary repper on it for the most ******** 1-slot tank. It only needs 1 cap booster for this, so you can fit ECCM in your spare slot. Takes crazy amounts of damage to bring down, especially if you pop an exile.

the 2x LAR 1x LAAR setup tanks DPS that makes marauders blush. Great for oiling up small-gate camps for your incoming stretch-gang.

It can perform respectably as a solo or very small gang PVP boat.

The first config that springs to mind is the triple armor rep (2x normal 1x AAR), which provides a short lived but awesome tank. Exile boosters take the tank even further.

The other configuration is full-on gank, where the lows are filled with damage mods (typically 3 mag-stabs) and the mids with a shield tank.

900 dps, over 3k tank overheated with improved exile. Swap tank for damage mods as required or whatever. Swapping the guns down to electrons means you can get another heavy cap injector on there for more sustained tank.

It is very nice for solo/small gang pvp with a active tank or hybrid tank(single rep + plate). With the changes to fitting and turret count active tanking cripples the damage output far less.

For pve it is the best T1 BS options for people with high hybrid and drone skills, pushing out high dps at medium range with the sentry/rails mix for missions or anomalies. It is also very good at Incursions, mixing high blaster dps with a full wing of sentry drones what can get 1.8k dps or more at close range in armor or shield fleets.

The fits above have the general idea, but there is 1 rule you pretty much need to live by if you intend to jump into a camp:

Either Fit ECCM or fit a Smartbomb. Preferably the first option. Both if you feel lucky.

Lots of gate camps in losec use ECM drones since the zero sentry-gun aggro changes to drones.

Well it will not make a maruder blush because the marauder can always do the same AND have double the tank due to bastion :P
