I will make you an example , this is how market works at the moment. Now i would like if somebody with brain actually answer this. Thanks Blink

So there is Person A who made sell order of Coercer in Station A for a price of 1 milion isk each
Another Person B made sell order of Coercer in same station (Station A) for a price of 10 milion isk each

Now comes a Person C and want to buy a Coercer . He type Coercer in search bar and his sell orders result are not listed by the price from the lowest to highest. So 10 milion for a coercer pops out as first result . He is ok with the price and buy Coercer for 10 milion isk .

Now the tricky part: Person A will get 10 milion isk ! not the Person B who actually made sell order of Coercer for 10 milion isk! Person B payed broker fee, it payed transaction fee . But yet somehow with magic Person A got the money !! So if you put example at 10 am server time a plex on market for a 450 milion isk and in 2 hours price dropes and some guy undercut you for 1 milion isk . And buyer right click on your sell order and wants to buy specified plex from you for 450 milion isk guy who made sell order for 449 milion isk will get 450 milion isk, he will sell his plex even tho he payed all fees like he was selling for 449 . At larger Market escrows this turns into a huge profit .
Overall person with lowest price at certain station will controll all coercers being sold to him. No matters at what price! as long as he have enough of them to supply the market!

That would be okay if situation is next:

Person A who made sell order of Coercer in Station A for a price of 1 milion isk each
Person B made sell order of Coercer in same station (Station A) for a price of 10 milion isk each

Person C comes with desire to buy Coercer. He type Coercer in search bar and his sell orders result are not listed by the price from the lowest to highest. So 10 milion for a coercer pops out as first result . He is ok with the price and buy Coercer for 10 milion isk . System route him to the lowest seller in that station and he pay the price of 1 milion isk not the 10 milion isk!. he will pay how much lowest seller asked for.

Now i am not a trader , or damaged by this in anyway . But if this is not a bug i know how i will make my isk from now on......

Note: This is not auto buy. Even if you see the list of all available desired items at your station and you select Medium price you will still buy from the lowest price seller at higher price than he asked for , not matter what you do.

It's not a bug — it's just a different kind of market than what you're used to.

When you put up a sell order, you're saying “I'm willing to part with the goods for at least this amount of money”.
When you put up a buy order, you're saying “I'm paying this much, and not a penny more, to whomever is first in line to sell me the goods.”

The buyer and seller never get to pick who they're trading with — the brokers do, and they just pick the first guy in line to match your respective order. If you're buying, “the first guy in line” is whomever has the lowest sell order (that still satisfies your price). If you're selling, “the first guy in line” is whomever has the highest buy order (that still satisfies your price). It's not their job to get the best deal for either of you — they just make the trade happen as quickly as possible.

This way, you can never be dissatisfied with your trade: as a seller, you will always get at least what you asked. As a buyer, you will never have to pay more than you want. Neither of you get to haggle for the final price; both set what you think is reasonable, and if your bids match, both get what you want. Yes, if there's a discrepancy, the seller will earn more than he actually asked for, but you were willing to pay that anyway, so no harm done.

Well as i read your post and understood it well i think it shouldnt be like that. Cause sellers are realy damaged in this process . I dont see the reason of having this in the first place. Who is protected by having the market like this ? Sellers certainly are not... or the buyers... its like CCP wants everything to be 100 isk like on Test server Smile I think if i buy from somebody something for 10 mil of ISk he should get the money i gived to him for his items. IF CCP thinks that buyers are to exposed by this and wants that YOU MUST buy from lowest bid than you should pay as much as the lowest seller guy wanted for . This is not very logical for me.

Thanks for your nice answer ,

In theory, it makes for a more efficient market that finds the true value of a good quicker than if people go around and haggle.

Both sellers and buyers, because they can set the exact terms for what makes it an acceptable trade for them.

Guess I'm too stupid for this but...

If I'm person C and search for the Coercer, I sort prices lowest - highest and see the 1million Coercer, buy it, Person A gets 1million isk (**** the taxes), Person B gets nothing.

TL;DR?

I dont get the point of this thread.

I've seen this happen when buying large amounts of something i'll use tritanium as the example. Say you want 50 million trit, but the lowest price doesn't have enough to cover what you want. Say the lowest price is 3.00 and the one that has enough trit to cover your 50 million is 3.30

If you select the higher price stuff and just ask for 50million trit you actually pay the guy with the 3.00 trit for his trit but you actually pay him 3.30 for what he had.

If the 3.00 person only had maybe 20million trit you'd pay him 66 million isk instead of the 60 million he was expecting. The rest of the 50 million trit comes from the guy you wanted to buy from at his price of 3.30 So you end up with 2 stacks of trit in your items. You paid 165 million isk for the 50million trit even tho the stuff you got was on sale for less than that. The guy who had his trit on sale for 3.00 suddenly gets 6 million more than what he was expecting.

So you have to buy each stack of trit on the market at its own sale price until you get the amount you want if you don't want to pay the higher price for all of it.

Of course the price difference is never that much but it goes to show that if you're not careful you can slowly pay more for what you wanted and you didn't have to if you knew about it.
