Currently we have for guns :
* light
* medium
* large
* capital
Specialization allows to use T2 Version of those weapons.

In case of missiles we have :
* Light split to
- missiles
- rockets
* Medium
- Heavy missiles
- Heavy assault missiles
* Large / Capital
- Cruise
- Torpedo

Can we for consistency make missile skills to use the same tree like guns ... or split the guns to use the same tree like missiles.

If CCP wants to EVE be more real - let it be more real.
Those are missiles , you just press the button and : FIRE ZE MISSILES

don't forget implants are also horribly skewed against missile users too

Implants and skills are two different things.
Check the topic for Pirate Implants - CCP is also thinking/working on adjusting implant stats.

Missiles are not Turrets. There is no need for them to be treated the same.

At the same time there is no reason to not to threat them in the same way just in this case.

They have totally different support skills and in combat behave in a different way.

If CCP put so much work in the changing requirements for cruiser/destroyers moved from lvl 5 to lvl 3 to advance in some cases.
Why not move a bit forward and also adjust this item.
We are not talking about major change, just making some stats unified.

This doesn't have to mean more skills going to unallocated pool.

Just take betters skilled item in the item class and use this as a base for new skill:

For example - char "A" have :
- lvl 5 rockets
- lvl 1 light missiles

Outcome will be unified light missile skill at level 5

Gun specializations are split into short/long range (e.g. small blaster/railgun specialization) ... however, I don't have a skill tree in front of me in order to compare them that well Sad

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

This. The OP is over-generalizing guns.

Light missiles are long range, Rockets are short range
Heavy missiles are long range, HAMs are short range
Cruise missiles are long range, Torps are short range.

For lasers, as an example, Pulse lasers are short range, Beam lasers are long range. So each gun class has a short range and a long range, just like missiles have a short range and long range for each class.

All is fine.

Think what OP is trying to say is that missiles have:
Light missile + light missile spec
Rocket + rocket spec

Where guns have:
Small Laser + small pulse spec + small beam spec

The big diffrence here is that it takes longer to "cross" train between long and short range weapons. It would be equal if missiles had "missiles + long range spec + short range spec"
