I am running a bit of a rust bucket.

My PC is an older generation Core 2 Duo and let's face it, she's a little long in the tooth these days but in fairness, this old goat with it's 32bit Windows 7 OS and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM still troops on rather well. Considering this machine was nearly state of the art when I first built it, I think the fact is still rocks on is rather impressive. Despite constant, daily use for hours on end.

The GPU for reference sake is an AMD Radeon 5800 HD which is a 2.5 GB Card If memory serves. No where close as old as the PC but still a little dated in it's self, however the GPU is still quite capable at this point.

The problems I'm having though are entirely of my own making. I'm trying to push this machine simply too far. I can run one Eve account maxed out, no issue. Two accounts on medium graphic levels again is fine or I can run 3 accounts on flat bottom graphics and at this point the PC is struggling.

The problem I have is, I have 7 accounts and often I need more online than the PC can handle, on paper.

I was hoping people might have suggestions on how I can not milk more out of the PC but instead ask Eve online to drink less of it. I don't really care how "bad" the game's visuals look during the times I need all scouts logged on and the Aeon on standby etc. Truth is, I long for the the time when I could choose between current generation graphics or the 2003 version. :-)

I know, I know. I need to look at a new computer with a 64bit OS and more RAM to give me the needed kick for this but that's a somewhat pricey endevour I'm not able to really set a course to just yet.

What I'd like to do in the interim is simply drop the CPU and Memory usage as much as possible that the Eve client wants to feast on.

I would appreciate any suggestions, big or small.

Thank you gents for your time.

Hello,

which version of DirectX are you using?

My experience with the DX11 client is that although one single instance of EVE runs smoother and is less likely to crash for me, it seems like EVE is constantly rendered in the background even if the client is minimized. My PC can't handle more than 2 instances of the DX11 client simultaneously and even with 2 instances I sometimes recognize some stutter.

The DX9 client seems not to render while minimized, therefore I am able to run 5 clients without recognizing major issues.
Maybe switching to DX9 in the launcher settings will help you.

Thanks very much that's a great idea.

Although with the hand of fate, my afore mentioned PC is no longer working as the main HDD has decided to irreparably fail. So won't be able to test your theory yet.
