Not renewal = cancel subscription?

All I want is that when my current subscription period expires, I get an e-mail that reminds me I have to pay for a new period of game time. I do not want CCP to charge me automatically, which it has done this far. How do I turn auto renewal off? The only thing I found was the "cancel subscription" option which asked why I wanted to leave Eve. I don't want to leave Eve. I just don't want to let Eve to take my money without my knowledge and consent...

Cancel your sub and pay with GTC. Problem solved.

Write it down on a piece of paper and keep it next to your screen or put up a date in the ingame calendar. It's not that hard..

Cancelling your subscription does exactly that, you get an e-mail like 5 days before your Plex/GTC runs out

Yeah, buy GTC's or PLEX.

Without your knowledge or consent? Pretty sure both of those factors are fulfilled when you know its charging you and want to play.

What the heck is a GTC?

That's not my problem. I know when it ends, I just don't want Eve to take my money. If they want me to pay for something, I'll pay for it, when I'm ready.

I'd appreciate it if Eve asked me if I wanted to renew it beforehand, thanks.

Don't overthink it. Go ahead and pay with your credit card or whatever when it's time, then immediately cancel afterwards. I'm really not sure what the difference will be... but that'll work for you.

You don't lose out on what you already paid for by cancelling.

When you pay with a credit card you have to check a box acknowledging that you understand that it is a recuring charge. I have no idea what your problem is.

When I add game time to my accounts I use something my bank provides called an "e-kort" (That's e-card in Swedish) where it's a small Java based application that displays a credit card on my screen, I enter my info, choose the amount of money I wanna put on it and hit the generate button and it creates a temporary card for me with a unique serial.
And when my sub runs out I get a mail saying "Subscription renewal failed etc..." and I simply fire the application up and renew without problem.
Contact your bank and see if they have something similar since it's very handy for online transactions, not to mention very secure.

This is one way to work around the auto billing since the temporary card will only have the funds for one transaction. I wonder what the IT people who look over transactions think when they see my payments. They must think I'm some kind of credit card thief or something haha.

If you don't want to be charged automatically every month, simply cancel subscription and renew it every month from now on (via website, a gametime code, or a PLEX).

There is an option under cancel sub, reason: cancelling autobilling. Just do it everytime you resub with real money. I'm sure lots of us do it and they aren't offended (but tbf I can understand them promoting recurring subs) Blink

FYI. GTC is a 60(?) day time code that you buy from a CCP authorized reseller. I believe they are comparable to the cost of a monthly sub. (Not 100% sure as I pay my sub yearly via CC)

I do it quite a bit. I'm a college student and I don't have a regular income. It's either PLEX or sub and cancel right away.

Same. I do it every time, but only after learning the hard way. If you have entered CC details at any point then switched to plex, if it unsubs they will still take your sub via CC. It's a bit cheeky.

Just cancel after every sub. It's annoying, but the rich people who get tied into resubs pay (probably) for a large part of our content. So, shhhh.

Cancel your subscription, resubscribe, uncheck the "bill my account automatically" checkbox while subscribing. Now you've subbed for 1 month and will need to sub again at the end of the month.

I am in the same boat. Didn't even read any of the popups or disclaimers when I subbed and didn't uncheck auto renewal. But then those evil bastards took money out of my account exactly a month later without permission and I had no idea it was going to happen.

Who would have thought a monthly subscription that says it will automatically renew would.....renew?

When you signed up, you signed up for a renewing subscription, so you agreed for them to take it. What you need to do is cancel your subscription. It won;t actually cancel your gametime so you can keep playing until it finishes. Then when you have 6 days remaining or under 24 hours, they'll send you an email reminder. At that point you can log in and pay, making sure to not tick the box that tells them to charge automatically in the future. Op success.

Having a recurring subscription isn't taking money without consent. You should probably be able to remember when things like car payment, mortgage and eve subscription is being drafted out of your account. Time to put the big boy pants on and keep your mind on your money.

I'm probably parroting here, but I won't let that stop me.

Cancel subscription is how you turn auto-renewal off. You'll still be able to access the game until your sub runs out.

For further clarification, when you cancel sub there are a few drop-down boxes where CCP ask you why you're cancelling, one of the options is "disabling auto-billing".

Make sure to leave CCP a message about "why you're cancelling the sub". I hear they like smilies and love hearts. <3
