Hallo o/,
I need some suggestions/ideas from people to form a Skill Plan for myself. Been out of the game for a long time and just came back. Before I left, I was interested in trade/hauling/PvP and trained for that. But now, not so much. I am thinking of training into a trader/hauler. To do that profitably, I realized that good standings are necessary and that leads me to my current dilemma.

What further core/support/shield/armor/weapon/spaceship/rigging/etc skills can I train to blitz missions for standings/hauling/trading? Is a T3 strategic cruiser better for all classes of security missions (thinking of a HAM Tengu) (really bored with distribution missions, need a change)?

Can you please post ship fits for L2, L3 and L4 security missions in Empire space, if possible for all 4 empires? (I don't mind cross training, with the new skill requirements changes - Before, we needed to train small->medium->large weapons to use them. Now we can directly train any level of the weapon system to reach T2, so we have the option to choose different weapon system for small, medium and large) Also, are L2's still the best for standing grind?

It would be easier to help with an eveboard link tbh.

Hello!

Sorry for the delay in responding. Just want to say that english is not my main language, just incase.

Looking at your gunnery skills I can see that you are able to use T2 Medium & Large Projectile turrets. Your gunnery support skills are also good which makes me think a Machariel and Hurricane would suit your needs. I'm not really sure if you have a certain budget or if you have somekind of John Hammond from Jurassic Park attiude i.e "Spared no expenses".

Your mentioned a HAM Tengu but your missile skills are very lacking for that, but since you have no issues with training for it there should be no problem.

When it comes to fittings I played around a bit on EFT to get fittings for a Hurricane & Drake for lvl 2s/3s. Battlecruisers are pretty much overkill for lvl 2s if I remember correctly but if it can enter the site, so why not? I just want to say now that I haven't done lvl 2/3 missions in years so I have no idea what kind of DPS the sites put out and if someone else reading this has any opinions on the fits I hope they share them.

Once again, I do hope that people point it out if these are bad. They should be able to do the missions. They are somewhat tight but should be manageable with the skills you have. The remote armor rep is not necessary at all and I just put it there because It's nice to be able to repair any armor damage that your drones might take. Swap it out for anything else you'd like.

So if we go to the stats

Ship Hurricane Drake
Tank (Omni) 250 370
DPS (with drones) 820 481
Resistance (Shield) 60.8/65.7/69/74.1 77.9/66.9/75.2/79.3
Capacitor life (ALL on) 1m 6s 3m 47s
Speed (no ab/with ab) 206/500 m/s 175/399 m/s

Since you are going for blitzing I'd say that the Hurricane would be better for you. The Drake is still nice because it gets very long range and always hits.

For level 4s I would recommend a T3 (Tengu) or a Battleship (Machariel from what I got form your skills) I have used a Tengu myself quite alot when it comes to lvl4s and I'll post the fit below. I have ZERO experience with Machs in lvl4s so I'm not even going to attempt to make a fit for that.

The tengu fit I've used alot with quite alot of success. I started out with most of it as t2 mods but I started to buy more expensive modules as time passed. With the skills I had +3% Implants that fit got 720 DPS. The hardeners are ofcourse mission specific.

I would say that you should pick a shield tanking ship because that will leave you more space for damage mods in the lows.

Looking through your eveboard link I see that you have many of the support skills already at five which is great.
I have this feeling I'm just saying dumb things right now so I'm going to make a list of skills that are helpful.

Sensor Compensation skill for whatever ship your'e going to fly. Will really helpout against the EWAR
The Spaceship command skill for ship you're going to fly.
Connections & Social for your standings.
Shield Compensation
Afterburner
Fuel Conservation
Acceleration Control
Support skills for the weapons you are going to use.
Many of the Drone skills (focus on Drone Interfacing)

I've got to go now, I also ran out of space to write in the last post but I'll try to re-read what I wrote and check for more skills that can help you.

I'd suggest the Tengu also. The above fitting is a bit pricey for my taste, but it wll certainly get the job done. You should be able to take a Tengu into L2→4 missions.

As an alternative, you can also pay someone to grind the rep for you. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=41506

Thank you Karen! Your post was really informative. Now I have an idea of what to do and how to train. After reading through your post I realized that my alt - a missile/shield specialist is more suited for missioning. I am going to get a HAM Tengu for her. As for myself, I am thinking of entering pvp since I already have projectiles weapons. Can you offer a suggestion for pvping skills? I intend to do frigate and destroyer pvp'ing.

P.S.: Your command of English is good. Easily understandable. :)

Hello again!

Frigate & Destroyer pvp is very fun. I'm guessing that you are still a-okay with cross training and such so I'll make it broad.

ALL Ships
Advanced Weapon Upgrades (For those tight fits)
Signature Analysis (Increased lock speed)
Long Range Targeting (Increased lock range)

Armor Tanking
Armor Layering (Reduced speed penalty from plates)
EM/Explosive/Kinetic/Thermic Armor Compensation - These skills increase the resist given by all kinds of membranes and adaptive platings. Getting these to five early on is something many people say no to, because there are almost always better skills to get. Four is pretty good tho.
Repair Systems - Decreases Armor Rep cycle time.
Remote Armor and Hull Repair systems are good if you can see yourself doing logi. Both for Frigs & Cruisers.

Drones
Not alot of frigates are able to use drones but there are still some that can. Once you get bigger ships i.e cruisers +, they come up more and more. Training all of these skills are good. Not a priority if you're going to fly lots of frigates in the near future tho. (Fighters & Fighter Bombers unless you're going for capitals)

Electronic Systems
Propulsion Jamming is a must, it decreases cap usage by the webs and warp scrams/disruptors.
The rest of the skills are great if you're going to fly EWAR frigs, both t1 and t2. (I like the Maulus alot)

Engineering
You have most of the skills at five which is great. Thermodynamics is an amazing skill as that overheating that you do can decide if you warp off in your ship or your pod. Nanite Operation & Nanite Interfacing are both also good for repping the damage done to overheated modules, good for long deployments. Be careful so that you dont burn out the modules tho!

Capacitor Emission Systems (Logi Skill)

Gunnery & Missiles
Pretty straightforward for these. Train the gun for the ships you want to fly and dont forget support skills!

Navigation
Acceleration Control (AB & MWD speed boost)
Afterburner (Reduced AB Cap & Duration)
Fuel Conservation (AB cap reduction)
High speed maneuvering (MWD cap reduction)

Rigging
Train these for the rigs you're going to use. Some rigs increase CPU & PWG that turrets/missiles use so getting the drawback down is good. Lvl 5 on these early on is probs not required as you are better off training more helpful skills.

Shields
The Shield Compensation skills are very situational. Not many fits use them and if they do, it's often the EM & Thermic ones. I'd say that you should NOT get these to five anytime soon. 3/4 is doable but you're probobly not going to use them very often.

Shield Compensation (Booster drains less cap)
Shield Upgrades (reduced PWG for certain modules)

Shield Emission Systems (Logi skill)

DO NOT GET TACTICAL SHIELD MANIPULATION TO 5. SERIOUSLY. NOT WORTH.

Spaceship Command
Train it for whatever ship type you're flying Smile

Targeting
Advanced Target Management to be able to lock those extra targets.
The Sensor Compensation skills I'd recommend you get to atleast four. They are very helpful.

I'm quite tired and wasn't sure on how to format this. If you have any question, please ask.

Karen.

I am going with frigate pvp since it's an effective (not to mention cheap way) to learn PvP. I am going to improve Navigation, EWAR, Propulsion Jamming and Armor tanking systems first. Going to get all skills you mentioned to 4 as soon as possible.

I am going to try my hand with AC rifter then Arty Thrasher! Thank you for your advice! :)

You are bored with distribution missions yet you want to trade and haul on your main as a living... See where that might go wrong for you? "Need people to talk to" is the name of your post and to me the most interesting part. You seem social so go join a corp that hosts fun ISK making activities/opportunities. Know yourself, EVE can be very boring when you go at it alone.

I kind of changed my mind after posting :) And I decided to use my alt for station trading/hauling/missioning and use myself for PvP. I really want to join a social corp but sadly due to RL, I don't come online during the regular playing hours, so for now, I am trying to skill up, earn some isk and wait till I get time during the holidays to join a fun social corp!

Re: Hurricane fitting above.

I really hate any short-range weapon system on slow ships. An afterburner (AB) is fine for a frigate, but for anything larger I personally would want a microwarp drive (MWD) with short-range weapons.

Instead, I use long-range artillery with an AB. Most of the time I just use Depleted Uranium, because I'm lazy, switching to Quake for structures. Kiting is an easy way to deal with frigates, once they are about 15 km or more away.

My Vargur on the other-hand doesn't move most of the time, and it uses auto-cannons. It is my current favourite level 4 mission ship.

Experiment!
