Hi, I know that it takes someone having at least 5% of the shares of a corporation to initiate a CEO vote and that whoever garners 50%+1 votes is the new CEO but what I don't know is whether that is 50%+1 of the total shares, or only of the shares which voted. Also, how long does the voting period last? Thanks in advance!

51% of the shares outstanding (so if you're a CEO, hold onto 51% of them).

Voting is 24 hours (IIRC).

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Also you can just multiply votes very easily, so it's not like the share system works. Keep hold of them all or else I'll be visiting your corp soon....

This is incorrect, the vote will pass if 51% of the shares that voted are in favor. If you hold 51% and go on vacation for a week, your director starts the vote (which lasts 24 hours) and he uses his 49% to vote yes while you dont vote the vote will pass because 100% of the shares that voted are in favor and he will become CEO.

This. If you stop and think it's an important mechanic if you want to have the ability to move another CEO into position when the existing leadership goes AWOL.

Yeah, I couldn't remember which way it went.

WTF is it when I have a 50/50 shot at something in EVE, I always end up wrong? Roll

Why is it that I can't find anything from a dev, or even a thread where there is consensus on this topic? lol

Create a corp on test server and try it out. You'll find my post is correct as i've done it more then once on TQ. Pirate

As for proper documentation on the corp interface; haha lol.

because all of this code was hacked in like 11 years ago without documentation and probably none of the current devs are entirely sure of the details either?
