[Summer] Upcoming industry changes: Moon Mining

CCP planed a lot of changes into industry , and i think that moment this will be put into the server CCP could also introduce some additional way to acquiring moon minerals.

Lets keep current flow of moon minerals from pos based installations, but at the same time lets introduce additional ( not new ) way of acquiring them.

I don't go into the exact % but lets assume that base chance is very low , and lets call this variable (A)
- Each time someone activates Strip miner he can obtain some random chance of acquiring moon minerals , this chance is (A)
- If person is mining Lowsec only minerals then this chance is (A) *3
- Now when we are talking about nullsec minerals we have chance equal to ((A)*3)*2

Additional benefit is that each time person is using T2 Version of a Strip miner then this chace is increased by 25%

We will get T2 version of a Venture , we could introduce on this ship ability to mine those minerals at grater chance using T2 minerals.

This will put some pressure on moon owners, and can be easily modified by CCP just by adjusting few variables during DT.

You can anchor a siphon unit to take moon minerals. This idea is fairly redundant.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

No it is not.
Currently Moon Mining is a passive income.
My suggestion is something that is very slowly moving it away from this.

Ability to get % chance of acquiring of some moon minerals while mining is something very simple for ccp to code, and have control over it.

This is something that totally resides on the server side.

For example lets assume that you have 1% chance of acquiring 1 unit of gas during a strip miner cycle , and 5% while using Ice miner.

So each 100 cycles of strip miners you will get from 1-5 units of moon gases.
How hard it is to code it that this will go to your cargo hold if there is enough free space ?
How hard for CCP is to change one variable to half the chance for this during the DT it market could reach some critical level ?

i agree something has to be done towards moon-goo

as the population of new eden keeps growing the demand fot T2 items will grow as well while the supply of moon-goo is static that will cause ever increasing prices

other basic materials are colected by players and the amount colected goes up and down depending the demand with moon goo there is no way to increas the amount coming into the game due to a static amount of moons

that should change but i don't think some chanse based mechanic is the answer i think ccp should give us a way to mine moon-goo in a way similar to other minerals

Well that is something that people are saying for years now - but nothing is done.
In order to have access to high end minerals you have to :
- be in a big blue bloob
- steal using siphons

There are many suggestions, CCP many times declared that there will be changes to moon mining , and yet for so many years the only change to moon mining was applied to the way of those resources being used.

I don't mine , nor i plan to mine.
CCP prepares big changes to industry - so applying this change now is best thing CCP can do.

From the Codding side , this will not require to make any big changes :
- new mine-able asteroids
- shattered planets
- moon belts
....

Just a simple code that will calculate at each Cycle of a miner a chance to generate some additional comodites and put them to cargo hold.
Something that CCP can apply for upcoming patch , and adjust those % without saying any one.

Think about new possibilities:
We will have the ability to use T2 Covert Ops Ventures.
Why not code after some time some random events across eve universe.

"Rich Dysprosium ore belts detected in constellation XYZ"

Seriously this is a game.
Game that is from 13 yo +

I feel a bit disturbed that for young minds that enter this game play there are no other options.

I don't have any thing to siphons when we are talking about resource interdiction to cut enemy income.
Eve is a harsh game that people will scam , steal , kill and do whatever they like -as this is a sandbox game ... still CCP don't give any options.

Just give the t2 ventrue the ability to get siphoned moongoo into the orehold, and wait for BNI to siphon all the things.

If the siphon price ever go to a level reasonable enough to buy them in bulk for noobs (and not getting destroyed due to automated siphon alerts of every major sov alliance) ninja siphoning could get really revenant (almost like a thief carrier path in eve).

Also, remember the alchemy change and moon reshuffling - thanks to those, now we have renter empires (OTEC was not enough income..).

I thought a great way for them to expand Dust would be to move the processing part of moon mining onto planet-side installations, where they can be attacked and defended by dust mercs. Would lead to some interesting gameplay.

This is eve , i don't want that CCP will move content from EVE to other game - as this will reduce possible fun that i can have in this game.

Dust is also dying if you didn't noticed.

Moons are a good conflict driver, bit less since alchemy hit but stillba good one. Why change it?

Use for the Rorq. Find a moon you want to ravage, jump it in when no one is otherwise home and setup. Once deployed it can start to rip into the moons resources at an increased rate. This pillage would negate the actions of the existing moon miners.

Of course over the long run not much is lost but a few cycles. Therefore Moons need to "deplete" and be left to regen resources and be re surveyed.

Reason is very simple.
Like i stated at the beginning , now the only way that people can have good moon is sit in a bloob.

But take into the consideration that PL & N3 is actually one color.

Yes one of the main goals is to cut part of the income on alliance level and offer it to regular players.
But take into consideration that many players want those changes.
CCP many times stated that they will change this, that there is some work into this direction, still people don't see any thing.

Remember that im not proposing removal of moon mining, those moons will be still viable , they will be still something that people will be fighting for.

Lets say that percentages will be set to obtain at first 10% of total current moon materials of each level.
This will not put to 10% price drop, but at most 5% in price reduction.

But it will be nice if in the future those numbers be put 50% from moons and 50% from mining.

What you suggest requires a lot of work.
Both from codding side and from graphics.

My suggestion is something that can be added to event that is spawning ore in cargo hold after strip miner cycle.
Few global variables ... and it can be deployed , and changed in the same way.

Mining have to big impact on moon minerals, or overall impact is good - adjust those variables either way.

So that big aliances leaves wormholes alone. Wormholes are for small corps and aliances.

I got a better idea.
Make moon mining in Wormholes possible. But you will only get Veldspar. Passive Veldspar ftw
