The 'Starter' Professions
From EVE University(.org)
UNIWIKI

I was looking for required skills to get the (previous) 'Starter' Professions which used to be listed in the ingame Certificates.

Only thing is, it isn't there anymore.
Rubicon brought a new, updated, faster, more relevant Certificate system which helps improve your tactics.

So, how are we supposed to be able to complete the previously listed 'Starter' Professions?
The answer is, you can't since it isn't starting anymore.
That's right, the game is over 10 years old now, and you can't 'start' anymore.

Business - Entrepreneur

  • Racial Frigate II
  • Trade V
  • Retail IV
  • Daytrading IV

These skills all revolve around trading and market interaction.

Business - Executive Commander

  • Racial Frigate II
  • Leadership V
  • Shield Operation IV

These skills start you off along the path to command fleets of ships.

Military - Soldier (Caldari)

  • Caldari Frigate III
  • Missile Operation IV
  • Standard Missiles III
  • Shield Operation III

These are basic skills that any military pilot should know.

Military - Special Forces (Caldari)

  • Caldari Frigate IV
  • Shield Operation III
  • Electronic Warfare II
  • Missile Bombardment V

These skills are more specialised and aim for some of the more esoteric military roles later on.

Industry - Engineer

  • Racial Frigate I
  • Industry III
  • Mass Production I
  • Laboratory Operation V

These skills aim at very basic production and research roles.

Industry - Prospector

  • Racial Frigate I (allows you to fly a Bantam, the Caldari mining frigate)
  • Industry III (allows for basic operation of factories)
  • Refining V (allows for use of refineries and gives a 2% reduction in refinery waster per skill level)
  • Mining V (skill at using mining lasers and gives a 5% bonus to mining turret yield per skill level)

Clearly, if you are going to go down the mining profession path, these are the core skills required.

Anyways, I can't find the archives of the elite version or the 2 other levels in between them yet.
So, here's a list of skills to learn, for in case and when that archive is scheduled to be unpublished.

Anymore of this?

What about the Business and Industry professions being replaced with Trade?

Business and Industry
Business Mogul

  • Trade II
  • Retail II
  • Broker Relations II

Business Tycoon

  • Procurement II
  • Daytrading II
  • Wholesale II
  • Accounting II

There are more changes:
Field Technician, Common Ore Refiner, Rare Ore Refiner, Refinery Foreman, Resource Harvester

Ice Specialist, Mercoxit Specialist

Leadership
There are quite a few leadership certificates and some of them require more basic leadership certificates. The general idea is that the more advanced leadership certificates are more specialised.
Battlespace Technician, Harvesting Comptroller, Tactical Commander, Unit Leader

(I also didn't have the time to verify if those were the same or how they were changed.)

Pre-Apocrypha, you started with 800,000 SP and spent your first days / weeks / months training learning skills. Very boring!

With Apocrypha and the "New Player Experience" (NPE), CCP reduced the start to (last I checked) 56,489 SP and gave every character double training speed to 1.6m SP to make up for the loss of starting skills. CCP estimated that an old and new character would reach 1.6m SP in roughly the same amount of time. However the boring learning skills were still around.

Dev Blog - Your Revamped Rookie – Coming To An Asteroid Field Near You! – Part One

Then learning skills were removed (Incursion 1.0.1), and everyone got +12 attribute points across-the-board from day one.

Old stats: 8i 8p 8m 8w 7c
(8 + 8 /2) * 60 = 720 SP per hour

New stats: 20i 20p 20m 20w 19c
(20 + 20 / 2) * 60 = 1800 SP per hour

That's 2.5 times faster training from day one, so the double training bonus was no longer needed.

Dev Blog : Learning skills are going away [it even has graphs!]

Today you can also get a Cerebral Accelerator for a short-term training boost when you start out.

So today you train faster, even without a Cerebral Accelerator, and get to choose more useful skills.

Nice, thank you.
And thank you for the links too!

I'm not 100% on the math now, but I remember getting to almost 3m SP in the first month, using the cerebral accelerator. It's incredibly fast. Add in some +3 implants from the first day and you'll be training like a champ. :)

I'm trying to verify the path of the attributes for most efficient remaps depending on skills.

I guess I could find it from analysis by sorting the skills by attributes type and deciding the best method.

Would be fun to actually get a cerebral accelerator. They were giving out worthless ships if you sub for a year last time I checked and subbed.

I had other links for starter packs that had Prototype Cerebral Accelerator but can't retrieve them.

That has little to do with 'Starter' Professions Skills though.

The old certs for professions is gone sure. But I'm certain that if you post what you wanna do, someone here will be quick to point you toward useful skills.
