I am a cancer patient. I am currently cancer free in remission. While I was in the hospital undergoing multiple operations this past year my Corp CEO kept tabs on me and called me on my cell frequently. Whilst I was on morphine drip and delirious he would want to chat it up, and this really helped to cheer me up. I don't recall most of the conversations, but I am fairly sure they were foot loose and fancy free on my part...

I just wanted to point out to the rest of New Eden that there was a CEO who actually cared, and it actually mattered to me IRL. We've since parted ways in Eve, but thanks to him I've had the audacity to return to Eve...yet again.

This man made a difference to me in game, and in real life.

I think an o7 is order for Proteus Ormande of The Longshot Brigade former CEO of The Tall Order. This man stands head and shoulders above all others as far as I'm concerned for his dedication to Corp, members, and friendships.

Thank you Prot! Call me anytime =)

Anyone who thinks that online friendships are any less dedicated or beneficial than "RL" friendships should read this post. Thanks for the fantastic read.

Also, I agree with baltec...

Honestly, because of the personal investment each player puts in EVE and the ammount of trust that each player needs to, well, play with each other, this also means that there's quite a bond between people in this game.

It is I, the nefarious, flim-flam man referred to as the OP's CEO. While I wish I could claim that I was a CEO, I was but a director. I had the pleasure of meeting (in-game) a fine gentleman, and excellent pilot named Scorsigaar. I didn't get to know him as well as some, but we hit it off quite quickly. I am moved that I had an impact on this man. IRL, I am a nurse and I've seen this b@$t@rd of a disease cut down way too many people in their prime, I'm glad my friend wasn't counted in their number.

Scorsigaar, you sir, are a true gentleman and I am thankful to call you friend!

Cheers! o7

Well put... Too often we find the worst. Here, we have two of the best. I salute you both, and the bond you share. o7

That said, \o/ for the OP for pulling through in the fight against that terrible disease and a sincere o7 to the CEO in question.
Good job, both of you!

The Eve-O community never ceases to surprise me with its ability to both disgust and amaze me in the same thread. It's a good things you guys are on the ball taking the trash out.

For those who have cancer...
Look into the juicing "anti-cancer diet". No it does not cure cancer, but the anti-inflammatory substances in the juices slows their growth. This can help Chemotherapy be more effective and keep you in remission longer.

For low red-blood cell count... drink a shot of beat juice daily (yes it works).

For those who do not have cancer
Take in as many antioxidants as you can daily. Green tea, maqui berry and anything in the broccoli family tend to be the best. Take vitamins... low vitamins cause cancer.

For those of you who want cancer

By all means keep smoking. Cancer rates are expected to double (again) by the year 2030. Smoking that cigarette will set you off on a good start and have you well on your way to malignancy!

One of the most important factors of defeating cancer besides balanced diet, are the friends and family who accompany you on that long exhausting way to cure. My mom is undergoing a nasty chemotherapy atm and sometimes it is really shocking to see what that does to a human body. But I am sure that she will win that fight because myself and friends are behind her to keep her mind happy and fill it with positive energy.

@ OP

I am very happy that you won the fight and wish you good luck on your future way through life.
