Is Gallente the best race ?

Is Gallente the best race for new players?

The more I think about it the more is makes sense.


  • Most of their ships can be effectively fitted for both shield tank and armor tank, able to fly with every doctrine!

  • All their ships uses only 2 weapon systems.
    • They have an excellent and homogenous ship lineup with clear progression along both weapon system with every hull being able to get some benefit from both weapon system.

    T1
    Hybrid: Incursus/Atron => Catalyst => Thorax => Brutix => Hyperion/Megathron => Kronos => Moros
    Drone: Tristan => Algos => Vexor => Myrmidon => Dominix => Thanatos
    T2
    Hybrid: Enyo/Taranis/Ares => Eris (eek) => Deimos = > Astarte
    Drone: Ishkur => Ishtar => EOS


  • They are not the hardest to fly, one of their weapon system is pretty straightforward, and the other is probably the most forgiving turret system (high tracking/damage orbit@500m or sniping keep@longrange with low capacitor use).

  • Their turret system is not dependent on Tech2 to be relevent

  • Their cruisers can dish ludicrious amount of dps

  • They have ships relevant to every aspect of either PVE (anom, incursion, mission) or PVP (kite, brawl, fleet).

  • Drones skills will be usefull with any other crosstrained race

  • They are the race that offer access to the most pirate hull (5 out of 7).


Are they the new winmatar ?

While Caldari insignias make the best bottle openers, Gallente is still the best in the game.

Caldari probably the easiest for a new player overall.

Gallente smell funny. Caldari is the way to go.

Caldari have Brawlers, Snipers, and Kiters just like every other race. Incursions can also be done with shield, hybrids and missiles.

Not sure if you knew this or not, but Caldari also use Hybrid guns, and their snipers are among the best.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Doesnt matter the race if you play the game long enough you get them all to lvl 5 anyway.

I believe the OP came to this conclusion because Hybrid Guns and Gallente Drones do Kinetic and Thermal damage which is the lesser of the resistances on both shields and armor for every ship in the game.

Also, Gallente freedom FTW.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

I rolled both my main and my alt as Minmatar due mostly to the aesthetic of the ships, the tribal culture, and their overall backstory. No complaints so far, but I'll probably branch out as my capsuleering advances and try another race.

Any race that can build the epic sexiness that is the Megathron is indeed the best race.

Caldari have EW jammer ships = win

Anywat, what's it matter? Can't figure out how to cross-train empire ships? Like WebV has every t1 destroyer in the game. Have trained a number of various empire ships account wide. The real question is how good you can fly the ships of your choice.
