That's an interesting perspective, Mike.

I'd say that no community website has any obligation whatsoever to run any content that they're not interested in, but it's certainly CCP's perogative to reward those that promote events like the elections.

I chatted with Trebor about the parameters he used for his mailing list. It was interesting stuff. Much better targetted than most.

As to getting the vote out, I am surprised none of you mention The Mittanis 'editorial' decision to say NOTHING about the election while it was ongoing. Not taking sides is one thing, running the silent treatment is another. If it had a detrimental effect on the voter turnout . . .who do you think profited?

Does the community fansites have an obligation to help with voter awareness or is it all upon CCP?

Should CCP give rewards encouragement to sites that support the election, do interviews and debates?

If so then Cap Stable, Legacy of a Capsuleer, and Declarations of war should get some boosts (among other podcasts) as should quite a few blogs that dealt with the issues and interviewed or analyzed the candidates. Maybe recruiting the community to help get out the vote and give them a reason to help will be part of the answer.

That's not entirely fair to state that TMC did not publish any coverage of the CSM election. Once people realized that Xander was in trouble, TMC published a piece on him. As far as I know, it was the only coverage any candidate received on that site.

Also, I would be opposed to any rewards by CCP to those who cover the election. That would open up a whole new can of worms I don't think we really want to let loose.

please don't encourage him to write a blog it'd probably get all the highsec carebears talking like he does

And we wonder why people cant find the interest to vote. A whole topic concerned with why people didnt vote, then the above is posted telling everyone you dont want to hear from people who think differently than you do. This is a clear example of why Eve is going to go downhill.

even dinsdale knows that his posts are full of crap mate. he scatters bullshit across every forum topic and blog post in the hope that the uninformed might take something he has to say seriously, which is generally 'don't bother voting, csm is useless to you'.

his opinion is not worthy of consideration in any discussion.

You mean it would generate sweet, delicious drama?

Well that's what people want from the CSM isn't it?

ah. then again, a more entertaining csm'd just be accused of drawing attention away from the secret shadow csm operated by the nullsec cartels

i'd like csm9 to consider an extramarital affair or two in office nevertheless

I only work for truck loads of cash. Big smile

Honestly the best campaign to run next year is not against the null sec blocks, it is against CCP.

If you listen to what the CSM has stated in the last few years, We did not want to rock the boat, because we might lose access and CCP frowning on the CSM having pet projects and the various other things the CSM has said about it being on a CCP leash.

That is why people are sick of the CSM, it is their as the PLAYERS representatives but it is just not anymore.

So the best campaign next year is an attack at CCP.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

The tooltips say your name is Frying Doom and you fly a frigate? > CCP attacks for 536 kinetic damage.
Random player posts feedback that the new tooltips is affecting their gameplay in a negative way > CCP promises more tooltips and warps away.

If at any time, the CSM could come to the rescue, it would be now to unanimously denounce the "in space tooltips" that have crippled fleets and broken many an explorer trying to get their cans. /wipes tear

Strike 'em hard guys, you have our support! CSM fleet GO GO!
