Why be disappointed with old games when you can buy their new games, and continue in your disappointment.

EA? Apart from one or two games over the years, I quit buying stuff from EA years ago, around after the time they shut down Earth and Beyond without ever an expansion, just killed it off. Then they diverted the funding from ENB towards The SIMS Online... which too they destroyed but I don't give a bloody kitten, didn't play that fail. And they screwed with us back in the day with UO, firing all the Western GM's and replacing them with people form India that couldn't read/write English hardly and liked to insult players for kicks when they were supposed to be doing their jobs professionally. EA has had one of the worst record with employees, they demand much from them, and often the customer gets screwed in the end from it. So whatever they are doing today, it's no surprise, that's just who they are.

Im with you on the hate bandwagon, EA can die in a fire as a corp.

They topped SOE in my hate list a long time ago, these days to be honest I just hate them for free, like a natural thing that crawls up with sheer revulsion from the bottom of your spine slowly nauseating you as it oozes upwards , sliming your shoulders in darkness and exploding in your head in despair to finally turn into a big ropy, tentacle ladden mass of utmost hatred and abhorrence as you cry the names of the Great Old ones and you drink the collected and congealed blood chunks of the sacrifice you just offered to the ...

I hate them.

You lost me at EA.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

So long BF2142.

Hopefully EVE Legion is decent enough to fill in its place. From what I have seen they look about the same. Lol

Well BF is the only EA franchise I play. Of course, surprisingly!... 2142 hasn't always been playable. For the longest time, they didn't allow dev funding to keep up with the hacks. Literally, people would even use hacks to intentionally crash matches. This went on for the longest time, over a year. I played BF1942 and BF3, but not too much of BF3. I have no desire to buy BF4, I'm done with the franchise, I haven't even had any of them installed for years now.

Yes, EA makes SOE look like total awesomeness heh.

Nothing new sadly. Microsoft have even gone a step further. Their Flight Sim is still on sale through the likes of Amazon, but when you install it, it has to 'dial home' and register itself. However, MS have shut down the registration server, so people end up buying a game they cannot play.

It seems to me that because of the 'international' nature of a lot of software companies, they feel free to rip customers off at any opportunity.

You can still play Everquest 1. SOE is a jolly good company comparing to EA.

Yeah but it... ehhh. They over developed it - well made it waaaaay too easy, not even funny. I played on one of the progression servers not long ago, I could outrun mobs no problem, unbuffed. Just no! EQ1 died long ago Sad replaced with... that!
If they offered something like the Mac server again, I'd be all over it, I mean for windows. Locked in time back during POP with no development past that. Won't ever happen though. Played EQ1 some 5 years from launch.

I still think they're secretly being teh same company, think about it:

Shadow Of Evil and Evil Ascendant... IT HAS TO BE! Shocked

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Definitely seem the problem with some software companies that develop consumer applications. In B2B if your are willing to pay for it, they're willing to support it. That's if they are still in business( Get that source code).

EA is the reason I came to eve. Got in on the 14 day trial to ex EnB, been here ever since.

EA bought westwood for C&C, then killed everything else.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

As far as for my internet spaceship fix line of mmo subscriptions, I went from EnB to SWG then to EVE. SWG was released a year after EnB and at the same time as EVE. EA pretty much choked off EnB not seriously funding an expansion which it desperately needed, they just used it as a milkcow for SIMS online. Took me a while to start a sub with EVE after SWG:NGE, a number of trials told me EVE was horribly buggy which I disdain for a game years into it's run. I really liked Westwood games, most of them were excellent, overall fondness level peak almost as much as Bethesda levels. My first EA game was Archon (battle chess game), if I knew then what I know now I probably would have never bought it hah.

SWG had a bit too much 'run around kill crap with sticks lvl up' feel. Eve had always been the game I was dying to play. EnB's lvl system was the same 'fly around shoot stuff' but it was just different enough with the 3 tiers and sci-fi enough that I loved it. I remember chilling in eve and watching the forums explode after the NGE, and eve players were begging for buddy programs and things to get SWG ppl over here. Fun times.

eh yeah some people did that with grinding mobs. I mainly did the CGW (faction wars) and mission ATM's (especially bounty hunter missions). NGE was bad enough with the Console style game-play, but they also deleted all my GCW player faction bases, and I deleted SWG. Two punch TKO. They took on the player-base and lost. EnB was campy (amusing appeal) but fun.
