really CCP

your English isn't THAT bad

They used "it's" correctly there.

No, they didn't.

Technically correct - but a bit nit-picky. "Its" without the apostrophe would be the correct usage in this case.

You are, it's in RnD, which means they either cut a large project they were working on and thus wrote it off, or they spent a lot of money working on a new project. You also have something like 18m in advertising, which is prolly for the commercial they made for Dust 514 and any ad's relationg to that. TBH that 22m 'loss' is not that troubling, if you see that ccp made 10m more over last year in game rev alone, so they are doing good, just over spent or cut something.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

"The Company completed a reorganization in 2013, which results in a greater focus and an increased independence of each of our FIVE main projects"

So far we only know about:

- EvE online

- Dust 514

- Eve Valkyrie

- World of Darkness

- ??????????????

From other reporting that funding was derived from "Bank loans" which in any case if they don't want "Gordon Gekko" walking into their board room CCP will have to pay back those loans.

I really hope this budget goes towards 2 main goals;

- EvE 2.0 where CCPgames gets rid of all the old code and will within a few years time relaunch the game, so that future iterations to the game will not be so time and resource consuming.

"Refactoring" old code to redo/update POS 2.0, Corp + Alliance/Bloc management, SOV 3.0, new pve content, Drone ui, Planetary Interaction 2.0, Ring Mining (?) etc is extremely costly.

- Dust514 for the PC, with unreal 4 engine maybe and have it superbly intergrated with EvE 2.0 and Ambulation, to draw in new players (dare I say more female gamers) and to get a great retention rate for them all.

To quote another game developer Chris Roberts: "The full game that I want to build that was in my head was always like $20 million ... or 21 or 22. It's in that range"

So I hope a up to $40 million R&D budget for EvE 2.0 and Dust514 for PC could bring this about.

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

So, in order to close out this old thread with an answer, it seems the '5th project' was EVE: Legion, the PC based shooter. That said, it's hard to call it a '5th project' when they've since axed WoD, and Legion is the natural replacement for DUST 514 as it's player base starts moving away from the PS3.
