Does anyone play EVE on a touch-screen?

Since touch-screen laptops and even desktop monitors are increasingly getting in an affordable range, I'm wondering if anyone has played EVE on a touch screen device... or is it really possible for that matter?

If you do, please share the experience here.

I would imagine that being annoying. Accidently klicking in space or something

I believe that a touch screen version will need a seperate client.

I am not a 100% on this, but I do know that Civ 5 uses a completely different game programe, if you want to play touch screen, from the mouse controlled version.

On FanFest CCP showed a touch UI for character creation.

Now I wonder if they will make certain noises
when they are touched... *cough*

I play on a Thinkpad with a touch screen. It works really well for looking around in space, rearranging windows, and dragging stuff (like into compare tool).

Also in character creator, whenever I poke Sibyyl's belly she goes hoo-hoo!

those radial menus feel like they were made with this in mind, apparently its doable, i don't have a tablet worth trying it on yet though.

It's bad because you won't see that avatar that is right besides you because of the cheetos stain on the screen.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

That makes sense, but only because the radial menu makes no sense otherwise.

Seriously, I wish it could be disabled, because it's effed me up more than once.

I play regularly on a touch screen. I find it's a nice change of pace and very functional for certain aspects of the game where precision isn't needed (pi, industry, mining, hauling, large blob combat) but not great for smaller more precise functions (loot spew from hacking, small gang or solo PvP).

The camera controls are a bit messy which is the main thing holding the rest back.

not a touchscreen, but a Cintiq. Never thought to use it to actually play EVE though.

People use the touch screen on their touchscreen laptops at all? I thought that was just a marketing gimmick.

Yeah, I have a touch screen. I pretty much only use it when I get frustrated with my touchpad (my laptop has a really crappy touchpad that wants you to be grounded to metal or the cursor starts bouncing around and randomly clicking.) When I have a real mouse plugged in, touch screen effectively stops existing.

Why would I want to touch a screen in the first place? I don't see the point of applying tallow and sweat to my viewscreen, nor do I see any benefits in obscuring a screen with my hands. This whole touch-screen thing is just a phase, a gimmick that won't survive the decade. When holpgraphic haptic devices become available touch-screen will come off as crude, cluncky and imprecise.

EVE plays pretty well on a touchscreen, if you set it up well. I used a thinkpad x-series convertible so the screen was near flush horizontal, and between the nice round module buttons and the radial menu it was actually quite fun.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

The whole touchscreen thing boggles my mind. Why anyone would want to have oily, dirty fingers all over their screen is beyond me. Ugh

I do not like the men on this spaceship. They are uncouth and fail to appreciate my better qualities. I have something of value to contribute to this mission if only they would realize it. - Bill Frug

Havent tried to play EVE on my touchscreen, but i've tried a couple other games to moderate success when i'm in a vehicle and a mouse would be awkward to even attempt to use. When the mouse gets plugged in though the touchscreen turns into more of a novelty item.

Always amusing when a friend comes up and jokingly asks "is this a touchscreen?" before swiping their hand across, and realizing that it is Lol

Just set an obscenely long amount of time as delay for it in the settings.

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

I think they were working on doing this with the mobile divison which is why they prolly added the radial's, but as of fan fest they are no longer doing mobile it seems, so might of slowed it. But that's what it feels like they added the radial's for

I've been playing Eve on my Dell Venue 8 Pro (quad core atom) for the past few months and it runs okay. I don't undock a lot, but I imagine anything requiring quick reflexes/clicking would not be too fun on the touchscreen. The main problem I encountered is that inside Eve the touchscreen works a weird way, when you touch something it clicks first and then moves your cursor, this makes using drop-down menus or right clicking impossible without a keyboard or mouse.

Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

Lol, I can see that alright. Thankfully I don't have as many years of routine for it to shag up on me.
