Simple change for sentry drones, make "Return and Orbit" cause Sentry drones to stop firing, move to your ship, and anchor in place again.

Quality of life improvement for sentry drone users.

Mmm no because of Sentry. Clue's in the name. Drop Sentries, stay with sentries. Want moving drones, use heavy drones.

Options are there. They have fantastic abilities for the down side of not be able to move hence the Sentry name.

And this:

sen·try (sĕn′trē)
n. pl. sen·tries
1. A guard, especially a soldier posted at a given spot to prevent the passage of unauthorized persons.

The problem I see with this is that sentries only move at 1m/s which is what gives them the appearance that they are anchored and don't fly towards a target when ordered to attack.

If they were given an actual speed so they could do what you suggest, this would cause issues when they are told to attack they'll also move towards the target due to the way that drones are coded.

Sentry drones are fine not moving. Its a balance to their abilities. They have no travel time, therefore they engage straight away and can apply dps over a larger range. The negative is that they dont move and if you want them back you have to re-approach them and get them.

Now wider scoop range for sentry drones i may just go for. But not moving sentries.
