Hull Tanking Battleship

so it would ruin everything if CCP made hull tanking viable in any way shape or form?

seeing as there are armour and shield tanks
i guess adding a third would be too much to handle for you all , good job trying to troll but this whole post prove my point , single minded beings

Okay let me explain this to you. Shield and armor are defensive systems. As such these are the things you want to reinforce to the extreme. Hull is the integrity of the ship itself and logically you want to prevent that from being damaged. Of course there are means of reinforcing it but this is not a primary layer of defensive systems, it's the last line of defense between your ship and the scrap yard.

It makes sense that we have modules and soon rigs to reinforce, weaken, or slowly repair the hull but as far as "tanking" goes, hull tanking makes no sense from a gameplay perspective or a logical perspective.

It is you who is the single minded being for ignoring an OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE response and instead chocking it up to trolling or single mindedness. In fact at this point I have to assume you are trolling. Otherwise my sanity may begin to slip in the face of this stupidity...

I don't believe this.

This idea is somehow even worse then the last one. It's so goddamn horrible I'm at a loss of what could be worse then this.

So props to you, OP. I have no idea how a battleship could be stupider then the idea you vomitted on to this forum. How about a faulty warp-drive which automatically fails whenever someone aggresses you? Why not make the ship randomly explode?

If something like this ship ever gets made, suicide will be the only relieve for the poor pilots unlucky enough to be cursed with this ship.

I assume you saw his last one then? I showed it to my corp mates and our TS3 was literally filled with a brief silence as everybody fully comprehended what they were reading. Then I saw this... I don't even want to show this to them. I want to spare them the agony that is trying to understand how any sentient creature could believe this a good idea. The more I look at it the more I feel my sanity slipping into the void...

The day anything even slightly close to this.... thing is added is the day I unsub and... well I was going to say lose all my faith in humanity but that happened a long time ago.... so more like lose my last shreds of sanity I suppose.

I don;t understand why you want to have a ship that is all faction... just by doing that you immediately limit the possible strength of the ship because of how it could be min/maxed.

aside from that hull tanking in it's current state is not really a viable tanking method, and i agree with others in this post that say it probably shouldn't be, it is essentially the same as armour tanking so would not really provide any benefit with it's addition.
Further to that if hull tanking was rebalanced in a way to make it viable then i would expect to see a new line of ships that would make use of it from a single specific faction etc.

aside from that the actual fittings and design numbers your putting against this ship are mostly nonsense.

  • it would have almost no dps meaning it would neither be efficient for PVE or a threat in PVP.
  • Despite giving it relatively high base speed this would be negated by using bulkheads to give it any sort of acceptable tank.
  • the 1% aper lvl bonus doesn't really make any sense as neither skill relate to hull. (i'd imagine even if you were to use that bonus 2%/lvl of mechanic would make more sense)
  • I don't understand why a hull tank focused ship would have equal shield, armour and hull.
  • even as a bait ship, if you used hull reps then you would lose the mid slots required for tackle which would be required to make it a useful bait ship.

I'm sure there would be more problems if i thought about it some more, but seeing as though you clearly haven't, i'm not going to bother.


I'd strongly suggest before you make any more suggestions actually try and work through what the core concept is, what is needed to make viable, and what limitations are required to ensure it is balanced / in line with it's class.

So by your current idea it has no offensive bonuses at all but with max skills has 95%/95%/95%/95% (25% ship + 10% skills + 60% DCU2) resists on hull just with DCU2?
