And let the office cost formula adjust accordingly.

Is there any downside to this?

Why does it need to be done?

Because of ridiculous office rents in NPC 00 in some stations (most notably those with cloning facilities) of several hundred millions to single digit billions? Because of the same monetary issue in popular production systems in High sec?

Because these huge financial hurdles make it hard for new entrepreneurs to enter a market or get a hold for themselves in NPC 00?

There are a couple of other reasons, but those are the most notabley in my opinion.

Will doubling the number of offices solve that? Or just create an artificial land grab for a day, two tops, then resume status quo?

Seems stations have millions and millions of m3 of space, possibly billions but can't spare 5m3 for some poor SOB to throw in office in?

Get out of here, it's an archaic system and needs looked into.

A land grab in really busy systems is likely, but especially in NPC 00 there are also systems which are not overly crowded but still have no office slots open. I'm just thinking about Stain, where LGK and TG- would probably not change a lot in regard to open offices, but a couple of surrounding systems could profit from the larger number of slots. As for my High sec example, the land grab in the popular production systems is also a certainty, but again in surrounding systems you could have more options to find an office.

better yet follow the example being made by the industry slot changes.

changes stations with office capability to have unlimited slots but scaling costs.

The costs are already scaling, and end up in astronomical realms.

sorry i should have been more clear. following what is the proposed scaling for industry slots. from base cost - base cost +14% iirc. that said i'm not at all opposed to more agressive scaling.

considering the change to the the slot setup, this would probably mean a higher overall base price. but also give slower scaling whilst still giving a reasonable incentive to not all use the 'best' stations to clump offices in.
