Changing Your Character Name

Yes, I know this is an absolute broken record, but I would like to throw my idea out there.

Back when I played on a more frequent basis there were multiple times I wanted to change my name. I gave CCP the same spiel every time hoping someone might budge and help me out (never happened obviously). Recently I got back on EVE and I said, hey, maybe they figured out by now that they could make money on it and it would make a lot of people happy? Wrong. Still stone cold against changing your name. But why? Why can't we pay a modest fee, if not change it for free? From what I have seen, the main argument against being allowed to change your name is for people who are trying to hide because of something they did on their current character name. There is an absolutely simple way to take care of that problem...Create a name history on each person, so that you can look up a name and it will come up under a character name history section. Simple. And CCP could make money off of it. So why not? I've been gone for a while, so please throw some silly arguments out speaking against this.

Thanks for reading, to those who gave it a shot.

Yes, broken record. Your exact suggestion has been made many times. I made a slightly different version a while back but ultimately these suggestions are rebuffed.
Maybe the solution is to have an in-game path for this. E.g. Get excellent standings with Concord and with a pirate faction then pay lots of Plex to change the name completely (no name history, all contacts gone). Make it difficult but have an in-game route for it that makes sense plus make it lucrative for CCP.
