A bit ago I did a small experiment using iOGraphica, which tracks your mouse movement and presents you with a graphical representation of that movement over time.

I posted it on reddit and twitter, after which CCP Explorer suggested I post the results here.

Here is the album with descriptions of the initial results.

On the last screenshot I overlayed the mouse graph on the UI layout I use most often so you can imagine where and how often mouse went over the course of the play session.
You might notice a few interesting things:

1. I only ever use shorcuts for highslot modules and drones, not mid and lowslot modules, for some reason.
2. I often enough rely on broadcasts to lock my targets, or even lock them straight from space rather then overview (I do small gang stuff 99% of the time).
3. Depending on the type of activity the mouse paths change, but some of them remain the same regardless of what I was doing. For example, I always spam d-scan.

I will continue to record movement while playing EVE, various activities and I would like to encourage you guys to do the same. Everyone plays EVE in their own way, use a different UI setup, do different things. It's very interesting to see how you actually play the game, and this can show you just that.
It's really easy, with the use of a small app called IOGraphica found here.

That's pretty slick. I wonder if CCP uses anything like this for UI development

You mean the dots? Those aren't clicks, those are mouse cursor at rest - not moving at all

Why do you activate your modules by clicking on the icon? Aren't the keyboard shortcuts much faster, since you can turn on a full 8 module rack in one go?

My laptop has a touch screen :D
