Local chan where you can see the list of people in the system is to my point of view a very bad thing.

All local should be as Wormholes ones.

Of course there should be a way to see hostiles and allies in the system...

The D-Scan is the solution.

It could show allies and hostiles with color tag and let you filter.
It could show Cloaked ship as « Unknown ship » so you could have the direction of a cloaked ship , its range if he is on grid and even decloak it if you are good enough.
The range of detection could be different for each ship instead of the same like now. (15 AU for Frigates, Destroyers Shuttles and Pods, 20 AU for Cruisers and Barges and Indus, 25AU for Battlecruisers and Interceptors, 40 AU for Battleships, Covert Ops and Reconships, 70 AU for Capitals, 100 AU for Titans and Command Ships.
A sound alarm could warn you when an unknown ship is entering the range of your D-Scan.

Here is my idea...

Stealth nerf cloaky thread is stealth.

No.

Ever consider why the only place without local has no cynos?

It is not a Nerf for cloaky as he can be AFK in a safe without danger, and nearly impossible to de-cloak if he is moving.
Of course if you find a Titan cloaked on a grid you will be able to de-cloak it... But if you arrived on a grid where there is a cloaked Titan, I think that this Titan should not be there.

I don't see the problem with Cyno.

Normal Cyno appears on overview, and Covert Cyno is for Black ops, so it is quite normal you don't see them arrive...

This thread again.

Best idea I've read so far:
- Highsec local stays the same
- Lowsec/NPC null local only shows number of players
- WH local stays the same
- Nullsec local can be anything and is chosen by the group with sovereignty

Well done, you've just replaced local with the same thing (in fact, providing more info than local).... oh and completely broken Wormhole Space. High-Five!

You forgot the range detection I think.

Try to think how this game mechanic would be if you are in a interceptor searching a target or in a Battleship while farming.
Or in a Recon ship with a longer D-Scan Range than most of the ships.
The size of the system would become a big strategic data.
The game interactions could be fun.

The local is an arbitrary thing based on nothing. The directional scan is the radar of your ship.

The Range of detection could perhaps be different.

Pods / T1 fregates 8 AU
T2 Fregates, Shuttles, Destroyers 10 AU
Interdictors, T1 Industrial ships and T1 Cruisers 12 AU
T2 Cruisers, Barges, T2 Industrial 15 AU
Battlecruisers and Interceptors 20 AU
T1 Battleships 25 AU
T2 Battleships 30 AU
Recon, Covert Ops 40 AU
Capitals 60 AU
Command Ships 80 AU
Titan 100 AU

We could also have a Highslot module that increase the range of d-scan...
