Been away from the game for some time, and used to use a regular Raven only.

Not that I'm back, looking for the current "reasonable-best" Mission fitting for the Caldari Navy Raven.

Limitations: No Officer or otherwise uber-expensive Modules, No T2 Rigs.

Prefer some sembalnce of safety/tank over all-out-max-DPS.

Thanks in advance.

Navy Raven

8x cruise missile

1x LMJD
2x sensor booster with targeting range scripts
1x extra large shield booster
2x shield resist mods
1x shield boost amplifier/shield resist mod/tp/cap booster (pick what you like/need)

4x bcu
1x co-processor
(or 3x bcu, 1x co-processor, 1x dc)

I use light scout drones and salvage drones.
You can use whatever drones you like.

3x rigor rigs
(or 2x rigor, 1x ccc; or 2x rigor, 1x flare)

If you've been out of the game for a while, check the prices on T2 rigs before ruling them out. You might be surprised.

Maybe you should look into the Scorpion Navy issue, the shield resist bonus on the hull makes it a much 'safer' choice.

I have removed a rule breaking post and those quoting it.

The Rules:
5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

This^

The Navy Scorpion offers better tank than either Raven and does the same DPS.

The one downside is limited range when using T2 ammo. 111 km with Fury but only 74 with Precision missiles. This compares to 111 km/ 166 km with the Raven

RNI with 888 DPS and 5 min of cap. The only "expensive" module is the shield booster at about 12 mil in Jita... If you want to use T2 you'll need a +1 CPU implant.

Use the MJD to snipe in relative safety. CPU is super tight. If you only have shield rigging at IV, you'll need to downgrade one of the shield hardeners to a meta. You can also free up CPU using a DG or Pith XL C-Type which are relatively cheap.

You can also field three sentries, which if you're sniping at long range, shouldn't have tracking issues.

Actually I think the two extra launchers on the CNR just about balances out with the RoF bonus the SNI has, so the DPS will be almost identical, although the CNR will apply its damage better due to the explosion radius bonus, and will better be able to one volley cruisers and BCs due to the bigger damage per volley.

SNI is easier to fit (due to only having 6 launchers instead of 8) has a utility high slot and extra mid slot, and a better tank thanks to the resist bonus (can easily fit an excellent omni tank)
CNR applies damage better to smaller targets and one volleys better, has a slightly better capacitor, and is about 70 m/s faster with afterburner running.

All in all, they are both very similar and good ships, and are about identical cost wise. The SNI is the safer choice, while the CNR will go through missions faster. If you go the SNI route, consider using two TPs instead of rigor rigs, and using cap rigs instead.

One thing to remember is the volley damage.

My CNR puts out 964dps with 8080 volley and targets at 93km.
My Navy Scorp puts out 964dps with 6060 volley, and targets at 112km.
My Raven puts out 964dps with 6060 volley, and targets at 93km.

With all 3 BSs you can have both gank and tank. You don't have to sacrifice one for another. But as mentioned before, the Navy Scorp does give 4% shield resists per level, and that helps with it's tank over the others.

Hope that helps a bit.

My RNI fitting:

8x Cruise Missile Launcher II
Mjolnir Fury Cruise Missile

Shield Boost Amplifier II
3x Mission Specific TII Shield Hardeners
2x Republic Fleet Target Painter

3x Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Ballistic Control System II

I swap out one target painter for a TII afterburner for missions that require a lot of travelling.

Missile DPS: 1026.3
Drone DPS: 183.6
Overall DPS: 1209.9

All missile support skills at 5.
Cruise Missile Specialization at 4.
5% missile hardwires.

^^ the 'approved' fit. However...

BCSII vs DCUII
~58 more dps vs almost 50% more EHP

I'm not as hardcore as you. I prefer the extra 24k EHP.

Fixed your post.
Obligatory Golem. For when you need GankTank (sometimes your tank is dpsing ships off the field before they can kill you)
