Theres an app for that! Lol

But for real, there is an app for that, where u can just share your desktop window on a tablet/smartphone. It's not a big deal unless i missed something and CCP actually made an android client? Now that would be awesome!!! Shocked

they showed video of character creator using touchscreen... then they showed screen shot of eve client on tablet and on android phone...
on the tablet it was space piloting and on android phone it was fitting screen.

I've used a remote desktop app to play Eve on my phone. Due to the lag and difficulty with controls it only works for the most basic tasks that don't require a quick response. PVP would be a no go.

As for using a touch screen for gaming I think a mouse would be superior. I don't see a tablet playing Eve especially with CCP adding more graphics and animations. Do they even make a tablet with a decent dedicated graphics card?

Edit: I would like to see a bare bones Eve client offered. This would be great for PVP or for those that don't care about pretty graphics. CCP offered this a long time ago.

I still think touch screens are somewhat of a gimmick, but I might just be getting old. I really don't see the application for a game like EVE though. And I certainly hope they're not planning on messing up the right of the UI this way.

This could help make eve mobile possible. I'd love to do some basic eve functions via a phone, even have an integrated mail app would be great.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

Agreed, touch screen gaming has the fundamental problem that your hand is covering part of the screen. Ever tried an FPS on your mobile? You can't see what you are shooting half the time.

Would have been more excited by EVE on an Oculus Rift... but that's another possible gimmick.

The touch screen part was using a Windows 8 laptop with touch screen capability, and they were talking about how they optimized the Character Creation screen to work equally well with touch or the mouse.

I vaguely recall the screen shot of the phones, but I can’t remember the context.

Also, I am really OCD about fingerprints on my monitor screen. Evil

I openly admit that I was surprised with the quality of tablet screens that became available in the last 18 months. Also, non glare screens suffer less from the effects of fingerprints and a microfiber cloth takes care of them easily.

Remove standings and insurance.

The ability to change or add to our skill ques via mobile is something we should have had years ago for skills that are already injected.

It runs pretty okay on the surface pro. I'd say the 2 barriers to touch are size of various ui elements, and nearly every yi element expects a mouse over event before a click so you get very inconsistent results using touch.

Also hardware is always getting better. Did you see the small black computer that pretty much fits in your hand? They has those things running a client over two monitors outside the main station in amarr.

If I'm not wrong, that screenshot was showing the Motorola Atrix and another Tegra device from a couple years back. I think it was Fanfest 2012 they showed that running, and when I asked a dev about it roughly a year ago, they said production had stopped.

I'm hoping I'm wrong though.

No phone on the market has the power for general Eve gameplay. I don't know much about tablets, though.

Pretty sure the Nexus 5 could theoretically handle Eve on minimum graphics, assuming you somehow got Windows on it. Which you can't.

I'll wait for the touch screen that has the entire image holographically displayed above it.

Heck why even "touch"? Gesture recognition is even possible now. And I think I already know what the gesture for a highsec gank is. (hint, it involved the pelvis). Twisted

Bring back DEEEEP Space!
