Between the ideas of "A Future Vision" and "Prophecy" there is plenty of work to keep CCP occupied for the next decade. I'm still waiting for:

  • Dust Bunnies to be able to shoot back at spaceships;
  • Orbital infrastructure;
  • PvP interference in PI;
  • Air strikes; and
  • Beanstalks.

Cautiously hopeful, yes... but you hit the nail squarely on the head with "whether or not".

Most people will temper their enthusiasm precisely because of that very issue.

I'll upgrade my interest level from "cautious" to "excited" IF/when some solid demo work starts appearing -- flashy trailers with "ooooooo" and "ahhhhhhhhh" cinegraphics don't cut it anymore. Blink

Yes, i hope this is a REQUIRED (or highly recommended) part of the game, and can be used to take over stations, deployables/ POS replacements and POCOs, as well as more traditional ground based facilities.

Also +1 to calling them Legionnaires now.

Well, considering that we'll all be the same thing does it make sense to call us "Capsuleers" any more?

And no, we're not Legionnaires, we're Legion.

they Say that Legion will have NPC so you they will be doing missions in space with LEGION troops, the walkyries will do the same and EVE, will pretend that our fighters have little peeps inside & we get a new ship that works like the salvage drone and pretend we deploy troops to another ship Bear

All in they own universe :) with some random event. TwistedTwistedTwisted

I am extremely excited for Valkyrie and Legion now. I will definitely be playing both in addition to Eve now.

It'd be really cool to see some tie-in to Legion where landing parties could enter capital ships and damage them (reduce cap recharge, offline weapons, etc.).

Really cool, but very unlikely as it would be a monsterous task to coordinate and would either be a gimmick or exploited.

A more realistic goal I would hope to see accomplished would be the kind of fights you see in the trailers. What EVE pretends to offer in large scale PVP are cinematic battles with dogfights and tactics, with a backdrop of capitals. What it really offers is a giant blob of capital ships throwing rounds at each other until they get bored.

The Prophecy trailer showed off CCPs future vision involving infantry grunts being transported in actual ships that were tangible on the EVE client.
Alongside that we also saw infantry grunts duking it out inside orbital structures after having breached said structures.

Wether or not you think CCP can accomplish this vision I have to ask my fellow players: Is this something you are excited about and would love to see implemented?

I think it is an exciting prospect that CCP is still pursuing massive releases of game changing content. I think apocrypha was one of the best expansions in the game because of the fact that the number of new (not to mention highly dangerous) areas to explore not only introduced more living space, but completely changed the face of the game and affected everyone in one way or another. Not to mention it introduced entire new lifestyles and professions to the EVE universe.

The newly announced additions, including the infantry combat in structures with Legion and the dogfighting in Valkyrie, are not only going to be merely part of the live universe, but will play major roles in shaping the game. It also will give players intimidated by EVE's "complexity" with something to do that still allows for potential influence of major events (butterfly effect).

I am all in favor of the planned additions in changes.

Will there be problems and mistakes? It would be impossible for there not to be. I doubt any such melding of games even exists in any franchise present or past. While theoretically possible, CCP will need to invent several new technologies that allow people from three different games to interact with each other on the live server. Dust served as testament to its possibility, but what is planned will need far more than a simple conveyed message between servers of "orbital strike launched, load x graphic in y location with z effect on surrounding area."

I will wager a guess that part of the reason that Dust was letdown in content was because CCP was trying to make a soufflé with a waffle iron: Dust was developed on an entirely different platform which CCP had no prior experience with, not to mention probably had to wrestle with Sony to get even half of the planned cross platform functionality! Getting live, cross platform events to play out the scene on everyone's screen sounds like it borders on impossible (please, please correct me if I am wrong) - I mean, having to fight three different platform owners for simultaneous updates let alone simultaneous events has proved to be an insurmountable challenge for most other companies (as evident by games on the computer but also on consoles, such as minecraft, war thunder, etc, which all have a lag between updates on the mainstream version and the ports).

Since everything is going to be on the PC (and since CCP has much more experience on the PC, and now has lessons learned from FPS content related to Dust), the announced changes are already an order of magnitude larger in possibility than what was planned for Dust. It is still going to be a challenge, but I think CCP not only has the dream, but also the drive.

I personally think that CCP is not only the only company that wants to pull this off, but also probably the only company that can.

I look forward to the planned additions and projects, and to the day I can be a capsuleer, legionnaire, and a hotshot fighter ace. Until then, I will do as I always have; enjoy the fixes and additions that get released.

TL;DR You bet I am excited, and while it won't be easy, I think they can do it.

EDIT: I just realized I typed all of that with my droid. I think I am going to invest in a thumb cast, now...

Actually, ever since Dust and Incarna was announced.....before it turned into PS3 only and "Second Life" ....

So...hey, they got their vision right after 7 years. Now...lets hope Valkyrie becomes a hit so they can finance Legion or else they will restructure and....the vision will be gone again.

I don't think any sort of tie-in between the combat in Valkyrie, and space combat in EvE is even remotely viable, or a good thing. Drones, and fighters are only balanced, because they are reliable, predictable, and follow orders. The moment you had actual player involvement in the flight and control of drones or fighters, massive variables would come into play, rendering ships far weaker, or more effective than they should be. It would be game breaking for EvE

New dropsuit called "Fattyceptor" is introduced:

Role bonus: Can latch onto bypassing Interceptors and remove one LML from their hardpoint.
Role Bonus: Can breach through the hull of capital ships and flank fighting forces.

Oh and if drunken rambling is to be beleived, the technical side of the integration save valkyrie is working
That is they can tie Dust and EVE right now
Note technical
The issue is few people like the idea of boop take 10k damage in eve
Or a capsuleer is giving you x in Dust (unless its unending orbital bombardments, then its fine)

So the bigger issue right now is how to make it work well with people and not just mechanically

You guys seem to have alot of faith into CCP and their trailers. Ive seen the previous trailers for Dust and they barely can hold up to the gameplay. From what we saw in the trailer and what we actually got is a huge difference. I think 3 years+ from now on and CCP can deliver what they showed.
