Lockable/Hackable Jumpgates (player made)

When the time comes for players to start making their own jumpgates, I think it would be awesome if the Sov holders could lock the gates for anyone not "blue" to them.

However, I think you should be able to hack into those gates to be granted access. (perhaps have a limited time after hack that it stays unlocked in case you are bringing a fleet along)

I would have thought they'd be lockable by standings. In general i imagine them replacing jump bridges.

While I would give quite a lot of ISK to have a system locked just for myself and few selected pilots, I don't see it really happening, you would create isolated pockets of rich players building stuff in no-risk requirement and similar, so I don't think those gates would ever be able locked in that manner.

What I would support though would be lock the gates, new deployable module which can be anchored on the gate in known space which takes 8 hours to online, once its online you can use some new ship that can hack the gate and jump by itself and it then establishes connection for rest of the ship that can jump then. He would be some tankier ship, no weapons and stuff, and would have to be around 100 km of the gate on other side and the structure I mentioned earlier would have to be online in order for gate to let any ship pass.

i dnt know what CCP are doing with them, but i dnt imagine them leading to new systems that u can use to separate urself from the world.

i also dnt imagine them replacing existing stargates.

i just imagine them replacing jump bridges, creating short cuts.

but if ppl know otherwise, could i get a source?

I don't want it to be 100% safe, that's why it can be hacked (giving more use for the hacking modules/mechanics). Also, what you describe seems like just a copy of setting up a cyno.

More or less, yea, but thing is that if they are locked, then it would need hours to unlock so "defenders" have time to react. Otherwise just leave em unlocked.
