Iceland is cold.

I have learned that when people say "Go outside! Communicate with people a little!" they actually mean that I should kill people.

Lolwut: "Yes, you kids don't know how lucky you have it. These days noobs get given free tackle ships for PvP but back in the old days the only tackle ships we were given were our pods. We had to use them to bump their rookie ships out of alignment to stop them warping off."

Noticed Hilmar lost some weight since becoming a father. Good for him.

Outside of that I usually don't pay much to the hype of Fanfest, since most of what they talk about won't happen or not how they showed it.

It was my first Fanfest so I don't really have a baseline, but to me it was amazing. So many friendly people, so many nerds in one place, feeling like a VIP in Reykjavik for a weekend because your badge apparently performs miracles and of course all the epic presentations and stuff.

Except for the getting trapped in the elevator part. But even that yielded me some new friends Lol

Oh and seeing actual EVE families was both amazing and kinda weird. Mom, dad and 6 year old playing EVE together is cute. Dressing your baby up in EVE attire and bringing them to a keynote... not so much.

And yet that doesn't seem to make it any less cold!

The 2 devs in charge of module and ship rebalancing are amazing.

The direction for Eve is great for the long term health of the game, and the new release schedule will hugely benefit the developers (and result in better content for players).

I also like CCP Scarpia, particularly when he mentioned that he wants space to be meaningful and AI to be believable. The industry changes and Mordus content point to a future where regions of space are unique and have character rather than being the copy/paste universe that Eve is for the most part. Imagine flying around and seeing a rare NPC escort of a major character in Eve lore, or docking in a high sec station owned and modified by an actual player.

This is sort of a background theme to this Fanfest, but I believe the landscape of Eve is going to get much more dynamic and engaging, which is good because it's the weakest part of the game (now that the UI is actually getting pretty decent).

Lastly, Dusties got totally screwed, but I think CCP is realizing how bad of a PR move this was. I never cared about Dust but hopefully CCP takes better care of these players that bought in to the Eve Universe.

Just because something else is colder doesnt mean Iceland is not cold! ;-;

  • Project Legion will be a Dust like game on PC (Unreal Engine 4)
  • Plan is to have on Char for EVE, Valyrie AND Project Legion
  • One char would mean char data must be moved out of the "main server system" maybe leading to no more downtime

  • New development strategy. No more "EVE Universe" (Eve like stuff on PS3, EVE mobile, etc). Instead EVE United (Project Legion on PC, Valkyrie on PC, one char across all games

I may be more excited than is good for me. It's CCP...

Came here expecting OP to make impressions of people at Fanfest.

Left disappointed.

Students, please sit down.

Actually, the effect of the Gulf stream makes Iceland both warmer and colder. It makes the winter warmer, stabilises the temperature from day to day, and makes the summer colder. Compare Reykjavik and Moscow. Moscow is far below Reykjavik but have both colder winters and warmer summers.
